Do You Agree? Bhumjaithai Proposes Merging Tourism and Culture Ministries, Separating Sports Ministry

Do you agree? The Bhumjaithai Party plans to merge the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture, while separating the Ministry of Sports.

On 9 March 2026, a report from the Bhumjaithai Party outlined its legislative agenda, aiming to expedite progress. The party will focus on legislative work to support the executive branch by pushing laws aligned with government policies and swiftly addressing issues affecting the public.

One of the initial laws Bhumjaithai intends to promote is amending the law to transfer the Ministry of Tourism to merge with the Ministry of Culture, due to the alignment of their responsibilities. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Sports will be separated to specialize exclusively in sports, focusing on developing excellence. It is expected that this legislative amendment will be proposed and passed in parliament within six months.

The benefit of merging Tourism and Culture is to unify efforts to promote Soft Power, reduce budget and program redundancies in cultural tourism promotion, and better oversee historical tourist sites while generating income. This approach aims to maintain a better balance between “selling” and “conservation.”

Separating the Ministry of Sports allows for full management capacity, focusing on both “sports excellence” (Olympics/national teams) and “professional sports” (benefits and the sports industry).
