‘Run For Better City 2026’ Donates 300,093 Baht to Support Stray Animals, Enhancing Quality of Life for Four-Legged City Residents

‘Run For Better City 2026’ donated 300,093 baht to support the care of stray animals, enhancing the quality of life for the city’s four-legged residents.

The organizers of ‘Run For Better City 2026,’ led by the Faculty of Architecture and its Alumni Association at Chulalongkorn University, donated proceeds totaling 300,093 baht to the Chulalongkorn University Veterinary Student Club. This supports animal welfare by caring for stray animals, including those that are sick, disabled, or abandoned, both within and around the university area.

Mr. Pongsak Laomanacharern, President of the Faculty of Architecture Alumni Association at Chulalongkorn University, said the ‘Run For Better City’ event is held annually and this year marks its ninth edition.

The event’s main goal is to enhance quality of life in society through sustainable urban development, focusing on improving the lives of people, the environment, and the elements that make a city livable. This concept aligns with the role of architects, who design buildings and public spaces suitable to social and environmental contexts.

They also promote mutual coexistence and support within communities.

“This year, the organizers donated 300,093 baht to the Chulalongkorn University Veterinary Student Club to support proper care for stray animals within and around the university area, including

basic medical treatment, wound care, vaccinations, deworming, and monitoring sick animals. This aims to improve the health and quality of life of these animals, as well as raise awareness about animal welfare among students and the public through the club’s page and education on responsible pet ownership and coexistence between humans and animals in urban society.”

Mr. Krisana Thanatanit, the event chairman, said ‘Run For Better City 2026’ was held under the theme ‘Pet That Pet’ on 8 March, receiving a strong response with over 3,000 participants.

The event aimed to raise funds to support the Veterinary Student Club’s work in caring for stray and disabled animals, including medical treatment and sterilization to sustainably reduce the stray animal population.

It also focused on finding new homes for stray dogs and cats, giving them a chance to live in warm, safe households.

“We believe that extending compassion to our four-legged city companions is part of building a livable city for all lives, which has been the core intention of the ‘Run For Better City’ event.

Next year will mark the 10th anniversary of the event, and the organizers are preparing special activities to celebrate this milestone along with many exciting initiatives. Alumni and current students of the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University remain committed

to continuously organizing social activities, hoping these efforts will serve as a driving force for society

and promote sustainable national development in the long term.
