Resolved! Sports Authority of Thailand Sues Ice Hockey Association for Damages Exceeding 3 Million Baht

The Sports Authority of Thailand is proceeding with legal action against the Ice Hockey Association after discovering fraudulent conduct.

On 20 Mar 2026 GMT+7, the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), together with the Secretary-General of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), the PACC Office Region 2, and related agencies, held discussions on strategies to prevent and suppress corruption within the sports association to ensure transparent budget use and maximize benefits for the development of sports and Thailand's national athletes.

The Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission reported reasonable grounds to believe the association committed fraud, causing damage to SAT, a government agency, and recommended filing a criminal complaint against the fraudulent sports association. Today (20 Mar 2026) at 14:00, Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of SAT, went to the Crime Suppression Division to submit the complaint documents. The investigation officers have accepted the complaint and will proceed with legal steps accordingly.

The association SAT filed against is the Ice Hockey Association. The scrutinized issues, previously noted by PACC, include:

1. Overstating rink rental claims: requesting 700,000 baht per month while actual use is 200,000–300,000 baht per month (13,000 baht per session).

2. Athlete allowances: athletes did not receive the amounts reported to SAT.

3. Payments for foreign coaches’ salaries and accommodation, despite no foreign coach actually performing duties.

The total estimated damages from these fraudulent activities are approximately 3 million baht.
