Miles Daisher Makes Historic Wingsuit Flight Over Bangkok Skies at 260 km/h

Famous Hollywood stuntman and legendary athlete from the Red Bull Air Force, Miles Daisher, has created a new historic moment for Thailand’s emerging extreme sports scene with his first wingsuit flight over Bangkok. This achievement marks Thailand as a fresh destination on the extreme sports map.

A new legend begins in Bangkok, where the city's skyscraper views served as the backdrop for this historic wingsuit parachute jump. Miles jumped from a plane flying over the city’s skies, soaring past the Lebua Hotel—one of Bangkok's iconic landmarks featured in the hit Hollywood movie The Hangover: Part II. The hotel is home to the Sky Bar and Sirocco rooftop bar and restaurant, distinguished by its golden dome visible throughout the city. He then precisely landed on a boat cruising along the Chao Phraya River, thrilling spectators both Thai and international. This pioneering wingsuit jump against the stunning Bangkok skyline marks a new era.

“For me, Thailand is a paradise for aerial extreme sports. Credit goes to the city for being open to letting us perform this inaugural wingsuit jump,” Miles said about his flight. “The urban environment is unlike open spaces; the airflow around buildings is turbulent, like whirlpools between river rocks. Bangkok is a bustling, crowded city, so I had to accelerate during the jump, then level out before gliding down toward the river. I focused intensely on this moment to land gracefully on the boat,” he added.

This historic parachute jump was a collaboration between Red Bull, the European energy drink brand, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). The project aims to promote Thailand’s cultural heritage and scenic tourist spots, inaugurate a new era for extreme sports in Southeast Asia, and position Thailand as a global destination for diverse adventure tourism.

“The idea of this first-ever wingsuit jump came from our shared vision to push boundaries,” said Nithi Seephrae, Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications at TAT. “Normally, this sport happens in remote mountainous areas, but we brought it to the heart of Thailand’s skies. This jump symbolizes Thailand’s evolution as a destination that respects cultural heritage while boldly embracing innovation.”

“As The World’s First Vertical Destination, we believe grand experiences deserve grand stages,” said Narawadee Bualert, President and CEO of Lebua Bangkok. “This collaboration proves Lebua is not just part of Bangkok’s skyline but a place where the world’s most significant and remarkable moments choose to happen.”

For Miles, this historic wingsuit flight over Thailand’s busy capital was more than just setting a record; Thailand holds special meaning for this legendary athlete as the place where he first visited Southeast Asia with his wife Nikki.

“My first trip to Southeast Asia was to Thailand with my wife, who was pregnant with our daughter at the time. That makes this place very special to me. Returning now to fly above Bangkok feels like a dream come true,” Miles shared. “With its stunning architecture, delicious food, and warm culture, Thailand is truly a paradise for aerial extreme sports athletes. I’m thrilled we found the perfect time and place to perform this death-defying jump and share the experience with everyone.”

From Hollywood stunt shows to world records, Miles is one of the most accomplished extreme aerial athletes in history, having completed over 12,000 parachute jumps. His skill and precision make him a sought-after stuntman in Hollywood. He trained Tom Cruise for the motorcycle parachute jump in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning and performed the famous mid-air rescue "Barrel of Monkeys" scene in Marvel’s Iron Man 3. Beyond stunts like those in Human Flight 3D, Miles has repeatedly broken records, including setting 63 parachute world records in 24 hours in 2017.

Soaring beyond the horizon, this Red Bull Air Force athlete has set another legacy in Bangkok, but Miles revealed he won’t stop here; this is just the beginning of a new adventure chapter in Thailand.

“Flying past the Lebua Hotel was a dream come true for me—a huge fan of The Hangover 2. As I flew by, I remembered the scene where the guys were chatting on those stairs,” Miles recalled his most memorable moment. “This historic jump is a victory made possible by the support of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, local officials, and my Red Bull family who mean everything to me. I am deeply grateful for the chance to fulfill this dream before the world.”

Miles is full of passion for extreme sports. He looks forward to exploring the beauty and diversity of Thailand’s places and activities like never before.

“I want to keep exploring, especially the sea-cliff areas. I’m eager to visit Railay Beach and Ton Sai Beach in Krabi to see the limestone mountains and seriously start planning new projects there,” he said.

Beyond making history with his aerial feats, this Bangkok parachute jump also paves the way for extreme sports in Southeast Asia and invites travelers and thrill-seekers alike to adventure through Thailand’s stunning landscapes.
