Rigorous selection! The JB League 2026 youth athlete tryouts seek fresh talent to join the national basketball ecosystem.
The Junior Ballers League (JB League) 2026 season basketball skill tryouts, designed to select youth athletes aged 10 and 11 for the national competition system, concluded successfully. The event was held from 28-29 March 2026 at Sports Hall 2, DBS Denla British School International.
Over the two days, the atmosphere was filled with determination from the participating youth athletes. The first day involved detailed tests of basic skills and physical fitness, including ball handling, scoring accuracy, agility, and one-on-one skills. The second day focused on team play assessments to evaluate game understanding, teamwork coordination, and on-court problem-solving.
The evaluation and selection process was conducted by leading Thai basketball coaches, including Coach Dave (Sukdev Koker), Coach Chopper (Jitpon Toweroj), Coach Mam (Chatarin Rattanaviwatpong), Coach Joe (Poramet Wongworakul), Coach Atom (Jidapa Sampachanyasatit), Coach Palm (Chawit Preechatwong), and Coach Dame (Damian Van Es), who observed and chose the most promising players for the competition system.
To broaden opportunities for youth, the competition organizers structured the league into two divisions: the main JB League and the secondary JBD League (Junior Ballers Development League), modeled after global competitions like the NBA and NBA G League.
This structure accommodates up to 192 players per age group, divided equally with 96 players in the JB League and 96 in the JBD League. Players in the JBD League may be called up to the main league throughout the season if injuries or unforeseen events occur, fostering continuous development among athletes.
The event received support from partners, with Pavitra Tatsawichai, CEO of Big One Group and official main sponsor, emphasizing the importance of building a strong foundation at the youth level to sustainably advance Thai basketball and prepare it for the international stage.
Meanwhile, Kritikon Thanmahamongkol, CEO of the Junior Ballers League, expressed gratitude to all parties contributing to raising the JB League's standards and committed to delivering a high-quality competitive experience to all youth athletes.
The JB League official competition for the 10 and 11-year-old categories will commence on 9 May 2026 and continue until 19 July 2026.
