Pickleball Included as Demonstration Sport in 52nd University Games

A significant milestone for the Thai pickleball community as it is included in the 52nd University Games.

A major step for Thai pickleball occurred when the Pickleball Sport Association (TPSA) announced its collaboration with the University Sports Committee of Thailand (USCT) to promote pickleball at the higher education level. Pickleball has been included as a "demonstration sport" in the 52nd Thailand University Games, scheduled to be held at Walailak University from 21–30 January 2027.

Mrs. Thaya Tipsuwan, president of the Pickleball Sport Association, revealed that this collaboration marks a crucial advancement in gaining wider recognition for pickleball, especially at the university level, which is essential for developing future athletes. She also expressed gratitude to the University Sports Committee of Thailand for recognizing the growing popularity and potential of pickleball, particularly among university students.

The association is committed to promoting and supporting the competition in all aspects, including providing playing equipment, medals, as well as preparing ambulances and medical teams to ensure the safety of athletes and participants throughout the event.

Including pickleball as a demonstration sport not only offers students the opportunity to experience this rapidly growing global sport but also represents an important step for Thailand in advancing pickleball toward national-level competition in the future.

The public is invited to be part of this new chapter in Thai sports history during the demonstration games from 21–30 January 2027 at Walailak University.
