Seth.Muek Elevates Thai Mountain Biking by Bringing in World-Class Coach to Train Riders for Asian Games in Nagoya

"Seth.Muek" elevates Thai mountain biking by recruiting a world-class coach to intensively train riders preparing for the Asian Games in Nagoya.

"Seth.Muek" is raising the level of Thai mountain biking by hiring world-class coach Mr. Robert Herber Jr. to train the Thai national cycling team for the 20th Asian Games in Japan this September, while also advancing personnel development by training additional coaches according to the strategic plan of the Cycling Association of Thailand.

"Seth.Muek," General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, revealed that the association hired Mr. Robert Herber Jr., a professional American mountain bike coach certified at the highest LEVEL 4 by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), to train the Thai national mountain biking team preparing for the 20th Asian Games, which will take place in September in Nagoya, Japan. The focus will be on cross-country mountain biking, as the Asian Games only award medals in men’s and women’s cross-country, while downhill mountain biking is not included by the host.

General Decha said Mr. Robert Herber Jr. has over 35 years of experience and currently serves as a UCI instructor, sharing knowledge with coaches worldwide. He has been monitoring the Thai national mountain biking team since the Thai National Road Cycling Championships for the King Bhumibol Trophy and the Thai National Mountain Bike Championships for His Majesty the King’s Trophy 2026, held at Khao Phraya Dern Thong Municipality, Phatthananikom District, Lopburi Province, from 6-8 March. He analyzed each athlete’s weaknesses and how to correct them.

"After Mr. Robert Herber Jr. received the athletes’ fitness test results, he developed an appropriate training program and analyzed their strengths and areas for improvement. He recently reported that the Thai male and female riders called for training have improved and show definite potential for further progress. Before the 20th Asian Games, the Cycling Association will send the mountain biking team to compete in the 2026 Asian Championships in Kazakhstan to evaluate their performance following the training plan set by the American coach," General Decha said.

General Decha added that the Cycling Association will also continue personnel development by collaborating with the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) to hold the 2026 training course, starting with a basic national-level cycling coach skills enhancement program from 13-17 May 2026 at Vasithi City Hotel, Suphanburi Province. Twenty representatives from member clubs will attend. The association will coordinate with UCI to appoint Mr. Robert Herber Jr. as an instructor to share knowledge with the participants. This initiative follows the Cycling Association of Thailand’s strategic plan to comprehensively develop personnel.
