Cycling Association Advances Personnel Development with Annual Referee Seminar to Support International Standards

The Cycling Association is actively developing its personnel by organizing a referee seminar to support advancement to the international level.

The "two wheels" sector is relentlessly advancing its personnel development! The Cycling Association held its 2026 annual referee seminar, with more than 60 cycling referees from all levels attending. The event aimed to enhance their skills and understanding of cycling rules, which are updated annually. It also set policies to promote referees from national to advanced national and international levels.

General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, revealed that he presided over the opening ceremony of the 2026 annual cycling referee seminar. The event took place on 18 April 2026 at the conference room of the office building at Kamol Sports Park, Suwinthawong Road, Nong Chok District, Bangkok. Forty-one referees attended the seminar in person, while over 20 others who were unable to attend due to commitments participated online nationwide.

General Decha explained that the seminar is organized by the Cycling Referees Club under the policies of the Cycling Association of Thailand. Its goal is to develop the capabilities of Thai cycling referees and to review and clarify the cycling rules, which change every year. Given the extensive details and multiple cycling disciplines—including road, track, mountain biking, and BMX racing—the seminar featured international referees from the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI): Mr. Natthapong Lohitnavy for track and road disciplines, and Mr. Khattiya Srisoda for BMX and mountain biking, who provided training for the attendees.

"The association's policy emphasizes not only raising athlete standards but also developing the potential of all sports personnel, including administrators, coaches, referees, and sports science staff. Each sector plays a crucial role in elevating Thailand's cycling standards, all sharing the common goal of international success for Thai athletes. Over the past decade, the association has focused on advancing referees from national to advanced national (Elite National Commissaire) and international levels," General Decha stated.

"Currently, the Cycling Association has succeeded in its initial goal of upgrading Thai referees from National Commissaire status through training and theoretical and practical exams following UCI curricula in road, mountain biking, and BMX disciplines. Notably, Mr. Khattiya Srisoda passed the theoretical exam for the International BMX Racing Commissaire course, adding another international-level referee for Thailand. Later this year, Mr. Saroch Kanjananon, who has completed the Elite National Commissaire course, will attend the International Commissaire course for road cycling at the World Cycling Centre (WCC) in Aigle, Switzerland. These efforts align with the association's strategic plan for continuous personnel development," General Decha concluded.
