The 2026 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup kicked off its first round at Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto in Spain on Saturday, 25 April 2026 GMT+7, with continuous rain falling before the first race in this fiercely contested event.
"Mai Q" Kiattisak Singhapong, a rising star from Honda Racing Thailand wearing number 85, delivered an impressive performance by battling through the rain to secure third place on the podium. This competition emphasizes rider skill and technique since all competitors use identical-spec motorcycles.
At the start, "Mai Q" Kiattisak Singhapong began from fourth on the grid and surged to second early in the race. However, as the track began to dry, the Thai rider faced challenges controlling his bike and had to fiercely contest third place with a Spanish rider. He managed to overtake on the final lap, earning his first podium in this series at the season opener for motorsport fans.
After the race, "Mai Q" Kiattisak Singhapong said, “There was continuous rain before today’s race, but it wasn’t a problem because I felt today was my day. I have considerable experience riding on wet tracks and was more prepared for rain than dry conditions. The tires performed well early on, but as the track dried, they wore down and lost grip. I focused on controlling myself and the bike to the best of my ability to bring home this trophy for all Thai fans.”
