Thanapat Dominates with Double Victory Phet Darin Crowned Womens Champion at Thailand Cycling Championship Round 4 in Chanthaburi

Thanapat dominates with a double championship; Phet Darin crowned women's open champion at the Thailand Cycling Championship Round 4 in Chanthaburi.


Thanapat Sakultae, a rising cyclist from Team Prime19, claimed double titles in the road race events for men's open and under-23 categories at the 2026 Thailand Road Cycling Championship Round 4 held in Pong Nam Ron District, Chanthaburi. Meanwhile, Thai national team cyclists preparing for the 20th Asian Games swept titles as Phet Darin Somraj won the women's open category, Pittayaporn Saetan took the under-23 women's title, and Phumrat Chalermkit secured the youth women's championship. The live broadcasts on Facebook Live and YouTube amassed over 20,000 views.


The 2026 Thailand Road and Mountain Bike Cycling Championships, competing for the King Bhumibol Royal Trophy, Round 4, took place from 24 to 26 April. The Thailand Cycling Association under Royal Patronage collaborated with Chanthaburi Province, Pong Nam Ron District, Thap Sai Subdistrict Municipality, and the Ek Phaniangthong Foundation to host the event in Pong Nam Ron District, Chanthaburi. The opening ceremony for the road race on 26 April at the Pong Nam Ron District Office was presided over by Kasem Kasemsri, Mayor of Thap Sai Subdistrict Municipality, alongside Navy Captain Thitiporn Noirak, Secretary-General of the Thailand Cycling Association, Phumarin Petchchamli, Senior District Officer of Pong Nam Ron, and other local officials. The event was broadcast live on Thailand Cycling Association's Facebook Live and TCA Channel on Facebook and YouTube, gathering over 20,000 views.


General Decha Hemkrasri, Deputy Chairman of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Thailand Cycling Association, stated that this round attracted many athletes because the point standings were close, making the championship and the Royal Trophy highly contested before the final round at Bhumibol Dam in Tak Province. Many youth cyclists aged 14-17 also participated as the association plans to select athletes for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal, scheduled for October-November.


General Decha added his thanks to Chanthaburi Province, Pong Nam Ron District, Thap Sai Subdistrict Municipality, Ek Phaniangthong Foundation Chairman Somsak Phaniangthong, Pong Nam Ron District Chief Praphit Yanpanya, the Pong Nam Ron Police Station for traffic management, Pong Nam Ron Hospital, rescue volunteers, village security teams, and the local people of Chanthaburi for their warm hospitality. The large number of athletes positively impacted Pong Nam Ron's economy, with all resorts fully booked and local fruit farmers selling durians, salak, rambutans, lychees, and Marian plums to athletes and visitors as souvenirs.


Thawatchai Namsamut, Deputy Governor of Chanthaburi Province, expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Chanthaburi to the Thailand Cycling Association for honoring Chanthaburi as the host of the Road and Mountain Bike Cycling Championships for the 11th consecutive year. He noted the event created opportunities and income for local businesses and encouraged the community to embrace healthier lifestyles.


Notable results in the road race included the men's open category (121 km), where Thanapat Sakultae of Team Prime19 took first place with a time of 2:48:32, followed by Mr. Ali Ilyas Javaid from Pakistan in second at the same time, and Sergeant Natthaphon Jamchat of PUM BIKE HOPINN SPECIALIZED LOPBURI Army Team in third, also at 2:48:32.


In the men's under-23 category (121 km), Thanapat Sakultae of Team Prime19 again took first place at 2:48:32, securing his double championship at this event. Second place went to Natthakorn Kaewmukda of HCCT BY Pump Lung Teng & RSU Rangsit University at 2:49:13, and third place to Natthawat Mangkonwong of Air Force Cycling Team KOM-KOM at 2:49:14.


In the women's open category (82 km), the top three were all Thai national team cyclists preparing for the 20th Asian Games. First was Sergeant Phet Darin Somraj from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Defense with a time of 2:19:20, second was Pittayaporn Saetan of Fisherman Friend Chiang Mai at 2:19:23, and third was Corporal Chaniporn Battriya from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Defense at 2:20:44.


In the women's under-23 category (82 km), Pittayaporn Saetan of Fisherman Friend Chiang Mai took first place at 2:19:23, followed by Natcha Songken of the same team at 2:20:45, and Supannika Chantra of PUM BIKE HOPINN SPECIALIZED LOPBURI in third at 2:20:45.


In the youth men's category (82 km), Thanapop Pandhi of HEROBIKE-Phayao Pittayakom School-Phayao Sports Association won first place in 2:07:51, with Surasit Suetrong of Bike Net second at 2:07:52, and Kritphas Markthanat of PRIME19 third at 2:07:52.


In the youth women's category (82 km), Phumrat Chalermkit, a Thai national team cyclist preparing for the 20th Asian Games from Fisherman Friend Wat Dong Noi, won first place at 2:25:05, with Kawisara Amkamnerd of Fisherman Friend Chiang Mai second at the same time, and Thanchanok Jinapirom of Bangkok Sports School & Roojai third at 2:25:06.


In the junior men's category (82 km), Athikun Santa of Bangkok Sports School & Roojai took first place at 2:19:22, followed by Burapha Hingthisong of the same team at 2:19:25, and Watcharapong Sangkasorn of Fisherman Friend Wing 46 Phitsanulok third at 2:19:25.


Additionally, the mountain bike Eliminator race was held at Khlong Phra Phut Reservoir. In the men's open category, Polchart Nakthongkham of Core Nutrition took first, Sergeant Poonsiri Sirimongkol of the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Defense was second, and Phongpira Pongayukul of Club Mamuay Nakhon Sawan-Fisherman Friend Chiang Mai placed third.


In the women's open mountain bike category, Pornpak Praphothang, a Thai national team cyclist preparing for the 20th Asian Games from Chiang Khan Military Circle 28 team, won first place, followed by Kanokrat Ritthidet of Bike Net in second. The next event organized by the Thailand Cycling Association will be the Track Cycling Championship for the Queen Sirikit Royal Trophy 2026 Round 2, held from 1-3 May at the Velodrome, Sports Authority of Thailand, Hua Mak. Athletes can register via the association's website www.thaicycling.or.th from now until noon on Wednesday, 29 April, or register in person on Thursday, 30 April from 09:00 to 17:00 at the Seri Trairat Room, Velodrome Hua Mak.
