International Olympic Committee Visits Bangkok and Chonburi to Assess Readiness for Hosting the 2030 Youth Olympic Games

The International Olympic Committee visited Bangkok and Chonburi from 28 to 30 April, with Thailand confidently showcasing its potential to bid for hosting the Youth Olympic Games Bangkok 2030.

On 27 April 2026, Mrs. Danka Hrbékova, IOC member and Chair of the Youth Olympic Games 2030 Working Group, along with her delegation, officially arrived in Bangkok. They were warmly welcomed at Suvarnabhumi Airport by Mr. Preecha Lalun, Deputy Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) for Elite Sports and Sports Science; Dr. Suwanna Silpa-archa, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand; Dr. Chuenchanok Siriwat, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand; Mr. Ratphon Phai-ngam, Director of the Sports Associations Registration Division; and Mr. Akkharaphon Phuengporn, Director of the Elite Sports Competition Division of SAT. This visit marked their official stay in Bangkok from 28 to 30 April.

The visit to Thailand from 28 to 30 April is a crucial step in the IOC's evaluation process during the Targeted Dialogue phase for selecting the host of the 2030 Youth Olympic Games. The intensive three-day schedule includes workshops, technical briefings, and site inspections of proposed competition venues. The Thai side will present its vision, event concepts, management structure, operational plans, and key strategies to deliver an effective Games. This agenda allows the IOC Working Group to thoroughly assess Thailand's feasibility, readiness, and commitment. The mission will conclude on Thursday, 30 April, with a press conference summarizing the discussions and outlining the next steps in the host city selection process.
