“Laguna Phuket Marathon Presented by Supersports 2026” announces its return with a grand 20th anniversary celebration.
Launching a year of running for all generations, highlighting the energy of Gen Z, Run Clubs, and running families with the experience “Run Sunsets – Run Sunrises!” on 13-14 June.
On 28 April 2026, the Laguna Phuket Marathon Presented by Supersports 2026 announced its grand return to mark the 20th anniversary, embarking on a fresh new chapter that better reflects the modern runner’s lifestyle. The event welcomes runners from Thailand and worldwide under the concept “Run Sunsets – Run Sunrises!” from 13–14 June 2026 at Laguna Grove, Laguna Phuket, Phuket province.
This year’s milestone 20th edition will be held again with strong collaboration from leading national organizations including Phuket Province, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Laguna Phuket, Supersports, Bangkok-Phuket Hospital, and various public and private sectors working together to develop Phuket as a continuous international sport event destination.
Over the past two decades, the Laguna Phuket Marathon has grown from a popular race among Thai and international runners into a marathon destination clearly integrating sports, tourism, wellness, and lifestyle. This year, the event stands out even more as one that understands modern participants—serving as a health activity, community space, and lifestyle fit, especially appealing to younger generations such as Gen Z and running clubs, aiming for over 7,000 participants.
A new highlight this year is the introduction of the 2 KM JUNIOR RUN, a 2-kilometer race for children, with age categories extended from toddlers up to 17 years old. This allows young runners to experience an international race alongside their families. Meanwhile, age groups for 70 years and above remain in the marathon and half marathon categories for both men and women, emphasizing a truly inclusive sport concept for all ages.
Another key feature this year is the formal launch of the “Running Club Affiliate Program,” responding to the strong growth of running communities today. Participating clubs will receive various benefits based on group size, including registration discounts, Club Zone Tent space, early bib collection rights, website listing, and social media support, along with special awards like Largest Club and Highest Energy Club, energizing the event atmosphere and community engagement.
This program also links to community benefits: at certain affiliate levels, 5% or 10% of club registration fees will support the Children First Fund (CFF), which follows the philosophy “Nourishing Hearts, Inspiring Dreams” to provide nutrition aid to orphans and disadvantaged children. Currently, CFF supports over 400 children across seven care homes in Phuket province.
The Laguna Phuket Marathon also clearly reflects its commitment to local community growth by incorporating local restaurants into the event for runners to experience authentic Phuket flavors. Additionally, space is allocated for local entrepreneurs and artisans to exhibit and sell their products throughout the three-day event at no booth fee, promoting economic opportunities and inclusive community participation.
Regarding race routes, this year retains the charm of a destination race that distinctly sets it apart. The “Sunset Run” on Saturday, 13 June 2026, includes the 2KM Junior Run, 5KM, and 10KM races amid Phuket’s evening atmosphere. The 2KM route remains within Laguna grounds for children’s safety, the 5KM passes through beautiful local villages, and the 10KM runs along scenic beachside roads offering stunning views.
The “Sunrise Run” on Sunday morning, 14 June 2026, features the Half Marathon (21.1 km) and Full Marathon (42.195 km). Runners start from Laguna Phuket, heading to Ban Don, then north through Thalang to Nai Yang Beach before looping back via Layan Beach. Along the way, runners experience tropical forests, rubber and pineapple plantations, beaches, local villages, and Phuket’s cultural landmarks—key unique aspects of this course.
Mr. Nirat Pongsitthavorn, Governor of Phuket, said, “The 20th anniversary of Laguna Phuket Marathon clearly reflects Phuket’s capability to continuously host quality international events. This event expands Phuket’s image from a leisure tourism city to an active lifestyle destination blending sports, health, and quality tourism. It also stimulates the economy, distributes income to communities, and fosters ongoing pride among Phuket’s people.”
Ms. Prapa Hemmin, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Activities and Business Partnerships at Laguna Phuket, stated, “One key reason Laguna Phuket Marathon remains strong and popular over 20 years is the strength of Laguna Phuket as a destination offering comprehensive service experiences. We host all event experiences—from runners to families, friends, and spectators. Our strength lies in combining quality accommodations, facilities, dining, wellness, and leisure activities in one place, providing a seamless, comfortable, and memorable experience. For this 20th anniversary, Laguna Phuket has enhanced readiness to support both runners and their companions. We want everyone to feel Laguna Phuket Marathon is a special time to happily share together.”
Mr. Roman Flosser, CEO of Phuket Marathon Company Limited, said, “The 20th year of Laguna Phuket Marathon is an important next step. We added age categories for the 2KM Junior Run to offer experiences to youth and families, continued age groups for 70 years and above to reflect inclusive sports for all ages, and expanded running clubs’ roles through the Club Affiliate Program. Today, the running scene is truly driven by community. Our goal is to make this an annual event people want to return to every year.”
