It has become a widely discussed issue in Thai sports circles following proposals to remove snooker from the Gambling Act. Recently, "Big Hong," an executive of the Billiards Sports Association of Thailand, revealed another perspective of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, describing him as a skilled snooker player who has been closely involved with the sport for a long time.
On 29 April 2026, "Big Hong" said that many people might not know that Anutin is a talented snooker player who has followed the sport closely. During major tournaments, he often attends events both as the opening and closing ceremony chairman, especially at the Six-Red World Championship held in Thailand.
Additionally, he has competed in cue battles against world-class snooker players, including Ronnie O'Sullivan, the renowned English cueist, and has participated in activities with Buakaw Banchamek as well.
At the same time, "Big Hong" also revealed that Anutin has continuously supported Thai snooker, even inviting former world-famous snooker player Jimmy White to practice at his residence during White’s visit to Thailand.
The movement to remove snooker from the Gambling Act is gaining interest among sports fans and insiders because snooker is seen as a professional sport recognized internationally. It deserves serious support as a competitive sport rather than being associated solely with gambling activities.
