Mr. Heng revealed that the meeting discussed the election regulations for the new association president since his term will end this September. He is willing to support any candidates who have sufficient financial resources and time to develop the snooker community. Personally, if member clubs continue to trust him, he is ready to serve another term.
On 30 April 2026, regarding the effort to remove snooker from the gambling law category A, Police Major General Wichai Sangprapai, Vice President of the Snooker Association, stated that the association has submitted a letter to the council and legislative branch. They have explained the necessity, noting that this law has been in place since 1935 (91 years) without amendments, making snooker development difficult. This contrasts with China, which fully supports the sport and has produced athletes who bring honor to the country.
"We mistakenly tied the sport to gambling, which is incorrect. Gambling can occur anywhere, and this falls under the Ministry of Interior's authority. We have tried to push this forward, explaining to MPs and senators, and we will meet with Surasak Phanjaroenworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, to seek support for this issue."
"The opposition is due to hypocrisy, worrying if it’s gambling or if children will be harmed. You don’t need to say that. Nowadays, if people want to gamble, they do it online. Those who oppose should stop being hypocritical. We must face reality. The world has advanced; if we stand still like this, there will be no progress. It depends on the proposal. If the Ministry of Interior, MPs, and senators agree, we must look at China’s example. They support their youth. Many sports remain locked down here. We are not encouraging children to gamble; the distinction must be clear. If we do not remove these restrictions, how can children practice? Must parents only buy tables? How can it develop? Children must be able to access this sport freely."
