Government Awards 33.9 Million Baht to Celebrate Thailands Runner-Up Finish at 2026 Asian Beach Games



Swift and direct transfer: The Thai government awarded 33.9 million baht in prize money to the Thai athletes after they secured 28 medals—10 gold, 9 silver, and 9 bronze—at the 6th Asian Beach Games.


The Thai government, through the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF), and the Sports Authority of Thailand, held a ceremony to award prize money to athletes, coaches, and sports associations bearing the name “of Thailand” for their performance at the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, People's Republic of China, held from 22 to 30 April 2026.


The event took place at the Grand Four Wings Hotel on 6 May, attended by Mr. Surasak Pancharoenworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, along with Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand; Mr. Thanukiat Chanchum, Manager of the National Sports Development Fund; Mr. Thana Chaiprasit, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Olympic Committee of Thailand; as well as athletes, officials, and coaches from the Thai national team who competed in the 2026 Asian Beach Games.


At this major event, the Thai team performed excellently, winning a total of 28 medals and finishing 2nd in Asia. The medals included 10 gold, 9 silver, and 9 bronze. The National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) supported the prize money distribution as follows: 23,700,000 baht to athletes, 7,110,000 baht to sports associations, and 3,172,500 baht to coaches, totaling 33,982,500 baht.


Mr. Surasak expressed his admiration for the athletes and everyone involved in the 6th Asian Beach Games. He thanked all athletes for their sacrifice, dedication, and hard work to achieve success at this event. He hopes the prize money will boost the morale of all athletes. For those who did not win medals, he encouraged them to take the experience as a lesson to improve themselves and come back stronger in future competitions.
