On 11 May 2026, Honda Racing Thailand made a spectacular showing at their home race in Buriram, bringing their CBR Series team to claim a winner and five podiums across three top classes at the Asia Road Racing Championship 2026 Round 2, held at Chang International Circuit, Buriram.
Starting with the smallest yet fiercely competitive Asian-level class, "Fer" Panjaruj Jitvirulchat, rider number 12 and a rising star gaining experience on the big stage, exceeded expectations. Starting from 4th on the grid, his familiarity with the circuit helped him steadily challenge for the lead, eventually earning his first professional podium with a 3rd place finish. In race two, Fer maintained composure and executed thrilling overtakes through corners to secure 2nd place, achieving a "double podium".
In the Supersport 600cc (SS600) class, "Mix" Thanat Laongpliu and his teammate "High Peak" Krisda Thanachot faced a thrilling challenge testing their grit and the performance of their bikes. This class clearly embodies the phrase "The Next Successor." Mix, riding bike number 31, launched a fierce battle in race one, moving up from 3rd to fiercely contest the front runners before crossing the finish line in 2nd place.
The highlight came in race two when Mix Thanat Laongpliu faced a major setback with a “Long Lap Penalty” that dropped him to 11th early on. However, just when victory seemed out of reach, he unleashed an impressive comeback, overtaking rivals one by one to claim the win in the final moments. This feat sparked the viral social media catchphrase “Long Lap, No Problem” within the Asia Road Racing Championship community.
Meanwhile, “High Peak” Krisda Thanachot, rider number 18 and another hopeful contender, competed despite still nursing injuries from a crash in Malaysia the previous week. His resolve to "never give up" was more than words, as he fought through pain and grit to finish race two in 6th place, earning valuable points and upholding his team’s honor.
In the Asia Superbike 1000cc class, veteran rider "Chip" Nakarin Athirathphuvapat upheld his status on the home race’s historic stage. As the sole Thai competitor in this fastest and most powerful category, Chip, number 41, started 6th. Despite nearly losing control in race one that caused a drop in position, his composure from global experience allowed a strong recovery. In the following race, under scorching sun, Chip returned with full confidence and unleashed his power to secure a podium finish in 3rd place at his home circuit, amid roaring cheers from the grandstand.
The achievement of one winner and five podiums at this venue goes beyond mere numbers on the scoreboard. It signals that Honda Racing Thailand’s strategy of cultivating “The Next Successor” is on the right track.
The FIM Asia Road Racing Championship 2026 will return for its third round from 12 to 14 June 2026 at the Mobility Resort Motegi circuit in Japan.
