Thanukiat Chanchum, manager of the National Sports Development Fund, is moving forward with establishing fair budget allocation criteria for sports and setting performance indicators to stimulate associations to deliver results.
It must be inclusive and fair. Thanukiat Chanchum, fund manager, revealed that the National Sports Development Fund is preparing to set new standards for budget allocation to various sports associations, assuring that the distribution will be inclusive and fair in line with the Tourism and Sports Minister's policy. The focus is on allocation based on results; associations with clear achievements have better chances of receiving substantial support.
Thanukiat Chanchum, manager of the National Sports Development Fund, disclosed that the fund is advancing the development of criteria to address issues in budget allocation to sports associations fairly, following the urgent policy of Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Pancharoenworakul.
Thanukiat said the minister's directive emphasizes inclusiveness and fairness, and how to implement this smoothly, considering there are 95 national sports associations and 76 provincial ones. The challenge is to develop an approach acceptable to all associations and stakeholders, with a key expectation on performance that the minister demands to be precise and targeted.
For example, today there are associations with clear goals and realistic chances of achieving results at the Olympic Games. This group will have more access to funding. Thus, budget allocation will primarily link to expected performance. The fund will work with all parties to develop criteria before explaining and enforcing them with everyone, ensuring these tie directly to anticipated achievements.
