
Eight nations have confirmed their participation in the Asian Balance Bike Championship, where young cyclists from across Asia will compete in speed events on June 6-7.
"Sergeant Major Muek" revealed that eight countries have confirmed sending athletes to compete in the Asian Balance Bike Championship 2026 Presented by BATAC, which Thailand will host for the first time on the Asian continent. The event will take place June 6-7 at Island Hall, Fashion Island Shopping Mall, and will feature extensive prizes and activities for children to enjoy throughout the event.
General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, announced that the Cycling Association of Thailand has been approved by the ACC to host the Asian Balance Bike Championship 2026 Presented by BATAC on June 6-7, 2026, at Island Hall, 3rd Floor, Fashion Island Shopping Mall, Ram Inthra Road, Bangkok. This marks the first time the continental championship is held in Thailand.
General Decha stated that for the championship category on June 6, 2026, several countries have confirmed their participation: the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Thailand—totaling eight nations. The Cycling Association has also sent invitations to other countries such as Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, and Singapore but is still awaiting their confirmation. The challenge category on June 7, 2026, will allow open registration for general athletes, including those who did not succeed in the championship category, giving them a chance to compete again.
“Champions in each age group will receive a winner’s shirt, a medal, a certificate, and a commemorative doll. Second and third place finishers will receive medals, certificates, and commemorative dolls. Those placing fourth through tenth will receive certificates and commemorative dolls in both championship and challenge categories. Additionally, the Cycling Association has prepared many prizes for all participating children to enjoy during a raffle, including robots, remote control cars, and dolls,” General Decha said.
General Decha added that the opening ceremony on June 6, 2026, at 08:40 will be chaired by Dr. Pairot Saonuam, Deputy Manager of the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth). Also honored guests include Dato Amrit Singh Gill, President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), along with the executive committee of the Cycling Association of Thailand. The event will be broadcast live via Facebook Live on Thailand Cycling Association and TCA Channel, as well as on YouTube: TCA Channel throughout the two days of competition.
"Sergeant Major Muek" further stated that the race lineup will be announced on the Cycling Association’s Facebook page (Thailand Cycling Association) on June 4 at 12:00. Athletes can practice on June 5 from 08:00 to 18:00, and on competition days June 6-7 from 07:00 to 08:30. Challenge category athletes will have practice time on the afternoon of June 6 from 16:00 to 18:00. Team manager meetings for both championship and challenge categories will be held on June 5 at 17:00 at Island Hall, 3rd Floor.
Parents bringing their children for practice and competition can park private vehicles on the 3rd floor of Building D and enter Island Hall through Gate P7 on the 3rd floor of Building D without parking fees. Parents with vehicles taller than 2.3 meters can park in Building C without parking fees as well. Alternatively, visitors can take the Pink Line MRT to the Ram Inthra Ring Station (PK25) and walk across the skywalk to enter the mall directly.
General Decha added that the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) entrusted Thailand to host the Asian Balance Bike Championship 2026 Presented by BATAC for the first time in Asia because Thailand has great capacity for hosting international competitions. Thailand is a travel hub with convenient access for all nations, offers a wide range of hotel accommodations at various levels, and provides diverse, delicious, and reasonably priced food. He invited parents who wish to register their children for the challenge category to apply before the competition date.
