Over 3,000 Spartan athletes from more than 30 countries are descending on Chiang Mai, preparing for the world-class Spartan SUPER World Championship 2026 at the end of this year. The event is expected to generate over 150 million baht for Chiang Mai province during 6-7 June 2026 at Lan Non Num and Huai Tueng Tao, Chiang Mai.
On 5 June 2026, at the ibis4 room of ibis Styles Chiang Mai Hotel in Chiang Mai province, a press conference was held for the world's leading licensed obstacle course race, "2026 Chiang Mai Spartan Weekend & HH4HR." Present were Mr. Phatthana Chai Singhawara, Director of Mega Event and International Festival Development at the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) - TCEB; Col. Khwanek Ratchathanawat, Commander of the 33rd Military Circle; Mr. Boonlue Thammathanaruk, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai; and Mr. Boonperm Intanapasat, CEO of Runrio Thailand, jointly announcing readiness for the event. Also attending were Mr. Mark Laurence Agmata, Onsite Race Director; Mr. Julien Vigroux and Mr. Ricky Sahni, Co-Race Directors; and Mr. Jim Bullard of Krypteia, Hurricane Heat, official Spartan Race Thailand Brand Ambassadors 2026, who provided event details. TCEB is collaborating with the Army Tourism and Sports Promotion Office, Chiang Mai province, and Runrio Thailand to host the "2026 Chiang Mai Spartan Weekend & HH4HR" at Lan Non Num and Huai Tueng Tao, Chiang Mai, on 6-7 June 2026. This global licensed event and joint effort aim to boost local economic revenue. The objective is to develop and promote army land for public tourism benefits and support the Spartan Chiang Mai event. Chiang Mai serves as the host location for this world-class licensed event, welcoming athletes and followers from across Thailand and worldwide. The "2026 Chiang Mai Spartan Weekend & HH4HR" competition will test participants' strength at Lan Non Num and Huai Tueng Tao, with
challenging courses through forest terrain and obstacles alongside a lake, with Chiang Mai’s iconic mountains towering in the background. Participants will face unforgettable experiences with world-class Spartan OCR obstacles in a grueling, nonstop 4-hour Hurricane Heat designed to push Spartan athletes’ limits. The events include Sprint 5K with 20 obstacles, Super 10K with 25 obstacles, Kids Race 1-3K with obstacles, and Hurricane Heat 4hr.
