She won the women's public road race after recently securing the flat mountain bike championship. Meanwhile, General Decha Hemkrasri expressed satisfaction with the event, which attracted over 500 cyclists, and praised the rising young cyclists who are becoming key figures in Thailand’s cycling scene for the future.
The Thailand Open Cycling Championship for flat mountain bike and road bike, competing for the Royal Trophy of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, 2026, 2nd round, was held on 13-14 June 2026 at the Na Mueang racecourse in Kamphaeng Phet province. On 14 June, the road cycling race opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Sunthon Rattanakorn, President of Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Administrative Organization, along with Navy Captain Thitaporn Noirak, Secretary-General of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, and other government officials.
Before the opening ceremony, a moment of silence was held to mourn the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Princess Rajasarinisirinipatchra, the Great Royal Daughter, who passed away on Thursday, 11 June 2026, at 19:48 at Chulalongkorn Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society. Thai citizens mourned deeply, and the Cycling Association of Thailand respectfully remembered her gracious kindness by standing silently in tribute for one minute.
General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, revealed that the second round of the competition was a great success with over 500 participants, mostly from the lower north, upper central regions, Bangkok, and the east. This is part of the association’s strategic plan to scout new young talent to strengthen the cycling community. Outstanding cyclists may be considered for the Thai national team in the future.
General Decha added that the third round of the Thailand Open for flat mountain bike and road bike will be held at Khao Khayai, Chai Nat province, on 15-16 August. Cyclists will experience natural and challenging courses. The next event will be the BMX Thailand Open National Championship, 4th round, on 20-21 June at Vajiralongkorn Dam in Thong Pha Phum district, Kanchanaburi province. Cyclists who have not booked accommodation are urged to do so quickly to avoid distant lodging from the venue.
Mr. Sunthon Rattanakorn, President of Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Administrative Organization, expressed gratitude to the Cycling Association of Thailand and the Kamphaeng Phet Cycling Association for co-hosting the event annually, with consistent support from the provincial administration. He noted that Kamphaeng Phet supports all sports, but the Thailand Open cycling competition is particularly prestigious and raises the province’s profile nationally. Importantly, it stimulates the local economy, as hotels and resorts are fully booked after each event, vendors earn more income, and tourist attractions become livelier.
Mr. Sunthon further stated that Kamphaeng Phet PAO is committed to supporting the event next year as well. He thanked the Cycling Association of Thailand for honoring Kamphaeng Phet as host. Two years ago, the event was held at Khlong Lan National Park; this year, it returned to Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park. Cyclists can enjoy sightseeing immediately after racing, with many archaeological sites within 50 kilometers. He invited cyclists and the public to visit Kamphaeng Phet, where PAO staff are ready to provide information and tourism guidance with pleasure.
