
Thong Pha Phum District Chief is pleased as Thailand's BMX scene thrives, with over 400 riders competing, boosting the local economy, while “Kometh” leads the national team into the finals as expected.
Anusorn Sanga-saeng, Thong Pha Phum District Chief, expressed satisfaction that the 4th round of the Thailand BMX Championship energized the local economy, attracting more than 2,000 athletes and supporters. He invited visitors to taste the district’s specialty fruits: durian, rambutan, and mangosteen. Sarawut Sritandorn, Mayor of Thong Pha Phum Municipality, confirmed full support for the Cycling Association to host the event again next year. Sakon Aksornthanawat, Director of Vajiralongkorn Dam, also pledged full backing. Meanwhile, “Ae” Kometh Sukprasert and other Thai national BMX riders preparing for the 20th Asian Games successfully reached the finals as anticipated. The live broadcasts on Facebook Live and YouTube drew over 20,000 views combined.
The 4th round of the 2026 Thailand BMX Championship for the Royal Cup of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was held on 20-21 June at the BMX track inside the Saranchit Health Park at Vajiralongkorn Dam, Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi Province. The opening ceremony on 20 June was chaired by Anusorn Sanga-saeng, District Chief of Thong Pha Phum, along with General Phop-anun Luangphanawat, Vice Chairman and Advisor of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage; representatives of General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage; Prathet Boonyong, Vice President of the Cycling Association; Sakon Aksornthanawat, Director of Vajiralongkorn Dam; and Sarawut Sritandorn, Mayor of Thong Pha Phum Municipality.
Before the opening ceremony, a memorial was held to honor Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Princess Rajasarinisirinapachara Maha Vajraratchathida, who passed away on Thursday, 11 June 2026, at 19:48 at Chulalongkorn Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society. Thai people mourned deeply, and the Cycling Association of Thailand paid respects with a one-minute silent tribute to her benevolence.
After the opening ceremony, Anusorn Sanga-saeng, Thong Pha Phum District Chief, revealed that the 4th round of the Thailand BMX Championship Royal Cup had an energetic atmosphere, with about 400 riders competing, excluding over 1,000 parents and followers. This influx boosted income for local hotels, shops, and restaurants, with full occupancy everywhere. Currently, it is fruit season, featuring durian, rambutan, and mangosteen—famous fruits of Thong Pha Phum. Especially durian, known for its sweet, creamy taste and mild aroma. Parents and tourists can buy these fruits as souvenirs or for personal enjoyment.
Anusorn added that hosting the Thailand BMX Championship Royal Cup in Thong Pha Phum is not only about excellence and health but also encourages local residents to value sports, which teach winning and losing, concentration, discipline, and help prevent drug abuse and e-cigarettes. Some sports can also provide professional income for athletes. He invited all Thong Pha Phum residents to come cheer, watch the competition, and be good hosts.
Sarawut Sritandorn, Mayor of Thong Pha Phum Municipality, said the municipality is very pleased and honored that the Thailand Cycling Association chose Thong Pha Phum to host the BMX Championship, with over 400 athletes and many parents attending. The municipality is ready to support and facilitate all aspects. He also encouraged athletes and parents to buy fruits from Thong Pha Phum markets or roadside stalls selling durian, rambutan, mangosteen, and other agricultural products, which are high-quality and perfect as gifts or souvenirs.
Sarawut further stated that in 2027, Thong Pha Phum Municipality will continue to fully support the Cycling Association’s events, regardless of cycling discipline. The association has trusted Thong Pha Phum as a host repeatedly, and the municipality is committed to helping ensure the competitions’ continued success.
Sakon Aksornthanawat, Director of Vajiralongkorn Dam, revealed that the dam has partnered with the Cycling Association to host various cycling competitions for 16 years. Each event has succeeded in attracting athletes and supporters, greatly boosting the economy and tourism of Thong Pha Phum. Vajiralongkorn Dam is happy to provide full support for future events as well.
On 20 June, the 4th round of the Thailand BMX Championship held qualifying rounds broadcast live via Facebook Live on the Thailand Cycling Association and TCA Channel, and on YouTube TCA Channel, with over 10,000 combined views. Notable results in the men's open category include “Ae” Sergeant Kometh Sukprasert, a Thai national rider preparing for the 20th Asian Games from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Defense, ranking first. “Ohm” Phutthaphum Nakpan from team C.S.K. TOOLING PATHUMTHANI was second, and Nopadol Klaimaneehan from team Klaymaneehan finished third. All three advanced to the finals.
In the women's open category, Khemika Srisopa of S.R.I. Cycling Team: Ban Dek Ying Saraburi led the scoring, followed by “Fah” Sub Lieutenant Chutikarn Kitwanitseth, a female Thai national rider preparing for the 20th Asian Games from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Defense, in second place, and “Kwan” Hathaipech Jaiswang from team Fisherman Friend Rama 3 in third. All qualified for the finals.
In the male youth category, Kantaphat Phosri from CK RACING - Ayutthaya Wittayalai School ranked first, Phumjai Thai Nakpan from C.S.K. TOOLING PATHUMTHANI second, and Jirayu Phunuch from Project-B, Rajawinit Bangkaeo third. All three advanced to the finals.
In the female youth category, Papada Krongprong from S.R.I. Cycling Team: Ban Dek Ying Saraburi ranked first and qualified for the finals alongside her twin sister Papichaya Krongprong from the same team, who ranked second, and Lodamanee Ruenruay from Samut Prakan Cycling Association, who ranked third.
