Womens Futsal Battle... Towards the Asian Championship Throne

The men's futsal league “MEA Futsal Thai League 2026/27” has started and 9 matches have been played.

The three-time defending champions “Thongyen Thakham” remain at the top of the standings, followed by Bluewave Chonburi in second place.

This year, the championship race is expected to be more exciting as it is the first season where the top six teams in the standings will compete in playoffs.

They will play off at the end of the season to determine the overall winner.

This means that the team finishing first in the regular season may not necessarily become the champion.

This new rule was introduced by the organizers to make the competition more engaging and interesting.

This playoff model has been successfully used for a long time in leading futsal leagues worldwide, such as Brazil, Spain, and Portugal.

From the men's futsal league, let’s now look at the women’s futsal competition in Thailand.

Recently, the Football Association of Thailand, represented by “Big Pom” Adisak Benjasiriwan, Vice President of the Association and Chairman of the Futsal and Beach Soccer Development Committee,

together with Pitcha Yangwutikul, Managing Director of Star Polo (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the main sponsor under the “Wingz” brand,

officially announced the launch of the national women’s futsal championship for 2026.

The tournament is named “Wingz The Championship Women’s Futsal 2026.”

It features competition among 8 leading women's futsal clubs in Thailand, including Port Authority Imané MSU Samchuk, the defending champions.

Also participating are Jombung MRU FC, Kasem Bundit FC, Bangkok FC, Suan Sunandha Inspiree Sport,

BG-Bandit Asia, Wolf Bangkok Futsal, and Axchat Eswitt Futsal Club.

The women's futsal competition has been played for more than ten years in a league system similar to the men's futsal league.

However, it has yet to be officially recognized as a professional sport by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).

Despite ongoing efforts from the organizers to gain this status,

women's futsal in Thailand remains categorized as a “sports for excellence” activity at the national level.

As a result, the funding support it should receive has been limited and not fully adequate.

In fact, the Thai women's futsal team’s performance is internationally competitive and not inferior to others.

Currently, the women's Chaba Kaew futsal team ranks 7th in the world.

They participated in the 2025 Women's Futsal World Championship finals last year.

Recently, they achieved an outstanding victory by winning the 2026 ASEAN Women's Futsal Championship.

Therefore, the organizers cannot call the competition a “women’s futsal league.”

It remains limited to the title “The Championship Women’s Futsal of Thailand” as before.

“Big Pom” Adisak revealed that Thailand has a long history of women’s futsal competitions spanning over 10 years.

This year promises to be another exciting season and an important one for developing personnel and players.

The Thai women's national futsal team has gained worldwide recognition over the past two years.

They have risen to 7th place globally, which is an excellent achievement.

All this success comes from the efforts of the clubs and the domestic women's futsal competitions.

Especially this year, there is a significant program: the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Saudi Arabia.

The Thai women's futsal team are the defending champions, having won the gold medal since 2017.

The competition was then suspended for a long period due to the COVID crisis and has not been held until this year, marking a 9-year gap.

Therefore, “Big Pom” hopes this competition will help develop quality players to strengthen the national team.

They aim to defend the women's futsal title at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games once again.

The Wingz The Championship Women’s Futsal 2026 will use a league points system, playing two rounds in a home-and-away format.

Matches will be held at neutral venues, rotating the host each week.

The season starts on 23 June 2026 and ends on 22 September 2026.

All 56 matches will be broadcast live on TrueVisions Now.

Women’s futsal fans can follow details, results, and live broadcasts throughout the season.

Information is available on the Facebook page: Futsal Thailand and YouTube: FutsalThailand.

The opening matches of Wingz The Championship Women’s Futsal 2026 will be held on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, at KBU Sports Complex, Romklao.

At 10:00 AM, Port Authority Imané MSU Samchuk will face Bangkok FC.

At 12:00 PM, Suan Sunandha Inspiree Sport plays against Wolf Bangkok Futsal.

At 2:00 PM, BGC-Bandit Asia meets Axchat Eswitt Futsal Club.

At 4:00 PM, Kasem Bundit FC plays Jombung MRU FC.

Let’s support the growth of Thai women’s futsal to match our current world ranking.

The competition theme is PROVE IT HERE … RULE IT THERE.

“Compete here … to rule as Asia’s champion.”

This promises to be a highly exciting event!
