Pro Lek Shakes Up the Course to Snatch Championship and 120,000 Baht Prize at Toyota Senior Golf Tournament

"Pro Lek" Thaworn Wiratjan shook up the course, overtook the leader to win the championship, and took home 120,000 baht, claiming the senior golf title at the "Toyota Senior" tournament in Kabinburi.


The Thai Senior Professional Golf Association organized the Thai Senior Tour event, the "Toyota Senior Championship 2026." On the final day, Friday, 26 Jun 2026 GMT+7, the game turned around dramatically when 59-year-old "Pro Lek" Thaworn Wiratjan, a highly renowned golfer with multiple major titles and a former Asian Tour number one, started the day three strokes behind the leader. He surged ahead by making four birdies on holes 2, 6, 7, and 9 during the front nine. On the back nine, he added birdies on holes 10, 11, and 14, dropped a bogey on hole 15 (par 4), then finished strong with another birdie on hole 17 after a putt within six feet, and saved par on hole 18. He completed the round with 7 under par 65, totaling 19 under par 197 over three days, overtaking the field to claim the championship and a prize of 120,000 baht.


After the game, "Pro Lek" Thaworn Wiratjan said, "I’m very happy to be playing well again, as I hadn’t won a championship in almost two years. Today my putting was good, and I tried to perform at my best, which helped me secure the victory."


Singaporean golfer Mardan Mamat finished second with a total score of 18 under par 198, while Chawalit Phalaphol, the first-round leader, finished third at 17 under par 199, earning 60,000 baht. Meanwhile, Prayad Maksaeng, the second-round leader, struggled with three bogeys but made four birdies, finishing with a 1 under par 71 round. He tied for fourth place with Saw Mor from Singapore, both at 16 under par 200, sharing prize money of 45,000 baht each.


The award ceremony was honored by Mr. Sutin Darunyo Thin, president of the Thai Senior Professional Golf Association, and Mr. Elisen Nakamura, the association’s CEO, who presented the prizes to the tournament winners.
