The Black Sea ignited as the World Jet Ski Championship “WGP#1 Waterjet World Series 2026” season opener officially exploded with grandeur at Sarafovo Beach, Burgas. Top racers from 32 countries worldwide gathered to compete in a world-class welcoming atmosphere.
The grand opening ceremony of the year featured a vibrant atmosphere on the first day of competition. It was honored by prominent national figures and motorsport leaders, led by Encho Keryazov, Bulgaria's Minister of Youth and Sports, and Dimitar Nikolov, Mayor of Burgas, who jointly presided over the prestigious opening.
The warm welcome included executives such as Priket Suebsahakarn, race director of WGP#1 Waterjet World Grand Prix and World Cup; Scott Fraser, President and CEO of the International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA); Dimitar Eliev; Yordan Nikolov, race organizing partners; and Peter De Smit, President of IJSBA Europe.
A highlight that impressed attendees was Priket Suebsahakarn officially handing over the “WGP#1 Waterjet World Series” race license to Encho Keryazov and Dimitar Nikolov. This symbolized the commitment to elevate Thai sports standards on the global stage, followed by watching the thrilling first moto race to close the ceremony.
The Thai athletes demonstrated worthy performances amid a lively atmosphere, with the Thai competitors not disappointing their fans:
Junior 13-15 Spark Stock class: “Nong Pay” #10 Natthakitt Suriyothiwat, Thailand’s sole junior rider, had a poor start in the first moto, losing to #67 Hugo Morales from Spain. However, in the second moto, he showed great determination by overtaking to finish first, tying at 113 points and setting up a championship battle in tomorrow’s final moto.
Amateur and semi-pro class: “Twin Saint” Thanawit Moli (#T30), defending champion of Expert Ski GP, and “Mio” Sasina Phiangam (#T26), 2025 Women Runabout 1100 Stock world champion, both maintained their championship standards by leading from start to finish and winning the first moto.
Professional class: The Moli brothers, “Sikt” Thanawin (#T4) and “Saint” Thanawit (#T30), teamed up to finish first and second respectively in the Pro-Am Ski Stock category.
