"Sergeant Major Muek," General Decha Hemkrasri, is confident that the Thailand Open cycling race Round 3 in Chainat will attract over 2,000 cyclists and followers nationwide, boosting the economy and tourism. Chainat Governor Phumwat Udomsap personally cycled to inspect the race route. Meanwhile, Chainat Deputy Governor Wisanu Witthayawarawat confirmed full preparedness, highlighted an impressive finish line, and invited cyclists nationwide to compete on 15-16 August.
General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, revealed that the Cycling Association and Chainat Province will co-host the Thailand Open mountain biking and road cycling race for the 2026 national championship, Round 3, on 15-16 August 2026. The route is within Mueang District, Chainat Province. The event will be broadcast live on Facebook Live via Thailand Cycling Association and on YouTube via TCA Channel throughout both days.
General Decha explained that the race route covers the Khao Phlong and Khao Khobai areas. The association assigned "Coach Tum" Wisut Kasiyaphat, Vice President of Technical Affairs, to inspect the route. Coach Tum reported that the course is very challenging, featuring flat stretches and uphill climbs. Cyclists competing in both categories must train well to perform their best. The rider with the highest cumulative points across all four rounds will be crowned Thailand champion and receive the prestigious Royal Trophy, a lasting honor for themselves and their family.
General Decha added that to ensure the race runs smoothly, Chainat Governor Phumwat Udomsap convened a preparation meeting with relevant agencies. Deputy Governor Wisanu Witthayawarawat chaired the meeting on 7 July at Luang Pu Suk Conference Room in the Chainat Provincial Hall. The meeting included Navy Commander Thitiporn Noirak, Secretary of the Cycling Association, and Coach Tum Wisut Kasiyaphat, to coordinate duties and ensure athlete safety. Recently, Governor Phumwat personally cycled the race route for inspection.
"Sergeant Major Muek" expects a large turnout of cyclists nationwide for the Thailand Open Round 3, as the location is convenient and near Bangkok. Over 2,000 participants and followers are anticipated, stimulating the economy and promoting tourism. After the race, cyclists and their groups can visit Chainat's attractions such as Chainat Bird Park—the largest in Asia—enjoy scenic views of Chao Phraya Dam, pay respects to Luang Pu Suk at Wat Pak Khlong Makham Thao, Luang Pho Kuay at Wat Khositaram, and Luang Pho Thammachak, a Buddha statue in the prevention posture, at Wat Thammamun Worawihan for blessings and good fortune.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Chalorm Songla, President of the Federation of Provincial Tourism Businesses of Thailand and Chairwoman of Chainat Tourism Promotion Association, said that Chainat benefits greatly from hosting this event. First, cyclists from across the country will visit, discovering the province's many attractions and local specialties. The climate and atmosphere are pleasant, with both lowlands and mountains, and the race routes are in excellent condition. Returning cyclists have expressed their enjoyment. Importantly, visiting cyclists support local hotels, restaurants, shops, and communities selling their goods, helping spread income locally. Athletes wishing to register for the Thailand Open mountain biking and road cycling national championship Round 3 in Chainat on 15-16 August 2026 can apply via the Cycling Association's website at www.thaicycling.or.th from now until 13 August before 12:00 noon. Registration is also available at the race command center near the BMX stadium of the Chainat Provincial Administrative Organization on Friday, 14 August, from 11:00 to 16:00.
