Grand Announcement for 11th Year of Buriram Marathon 2027 Invites Global Runners to Compete on 23 January Next Year

"Buriram Marathon 2027" launches its second decade spectacularly, guaranteeing the most fun and feel-good experience in every aspect. It invites endurance runners worldwide to make new history on 23 January 2027, with over 100,000 runners and supporters expected.

The press conference for “Buriram Marathon 2027 Presented by Chang Natural Mineral Water,” Thailand’s top night run, was grandly held on 21 July 2026 in central Bangkok at The Stories Square, G Floor, One Bangkok. Under the concept of “Runner’s Paradise,” it meets the highest global standards of World Athletics Road Race, allowing runners to use their times to qualify for legendary races worldwide.

The competition is set for the evening of Saturday, 23 January 2027, under the concept "Beat the Night, Run the Light," transforming Buriram’s night into a festival of running and lights. The race starts at the world-class Chang International Circuit and finishes at Chang Arena football stadium, featuring four distances: Marathon 42.195 km, Half Marathon 21.1 km, Mini Marathon 10 km, and Fun Run 4.554 km.

Mr. Surasak Pancharoenworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, said that Buriram Marathon has proven itself as a model Mass Participation Event linking sports, tourism, and economy. Over the past 10 years, it has generated economic turnover exceeding 5.2 billion baht, distributing income to communities through Buriram people’s participation and international standard event management. The Ministry is ready to support efforts to promote Thailand as a leading sports tourism destination in Asia.

Pol. Gen. Chakthip Chaijinda, President of the Athletic Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, said "Buriram Marathon" exemplifies elevating competition standards to the world level. It is a key platform for developing road and long-distance runners alongside promoting tourism and economy, aligning with the royal initiative encouraging exercise and drug prevention. The Association will continue to support this event to raise Thailand’s running standards and develop athletics internationally.

Mr. Piya Pijana, Governor of Buriram Province, said the success of Buriram Marathon stems from the collaborative spirit of the entire province—from cheerleaders, volunteers, to residents hosting the event along the route—which is a unique charm setting it apart. For this new decade, Buriram aims to elevate all aspects to accommodate the increasing number of tourists and runners worldwide.

Mr. Surapol Utinthu, Executive of Chang Natural Mineral Water, said as the title sponsor, the greatest pride is being part of Buriram Marathon’s growth since day one into its 11th year. We remain committed to elevating the race with fun, lights, sound, and special activities for both new and returning runners, providing refreshment along the route. We also emphasize environmental care by partnering with Thai Beverage Recycling Company (TBR) to manage a “Collect-Return-Recycle” program for water bottles at the event, creating a full recycling process to support the Green Marathon standard and promote Buriram Marathon as a leading sustainable running event in Asia.

Mr. Chotichonok Chidchob, Race Director of Buriram Marathon, said the challenge in the second decade is continuous development under the “Buriram Standard” concept—raising competition standards and creating opportunities for Thai runners to advance globally from local roots. The recent success sending Thai runners to excel at Tokyo Marathon 2026 is a great pride. In 2027, the event will elevate into a full Night Running Festival under the theme “Beat the Night, Run the Light” with lights, sound, and entertainment along the route, while focusing on details to provide the best experience and memories for all participants.

Mr. Newin Chidchob, Chairman of Chang International Circuit, said the goal for Buriram Marathon’s second decade is continuous self-improvement, competing only against itself to be better each year, progressing from World Class to Marathon Destination, attracting runners worldwide. What will remain unchanged are the race standards and safety, the charm of Buriram people and cheerleaders, and listening to runners’ feedback. He also announced Buriram Marathon 2028 will be held on Saturday, 22 January 2028.

Additionally, the “Kind-hearted Uncle Newin” offers abundant prizes and special privileges, starting with the press conference celebrating Buriram Marathon’s 11th year. Attendees have a chance to win 11 Limited Edition 11th Year BRM Gold Cards, along with official Buriram Marathon 2027 shirts and special prizes worth over 100,000 baht.

On race day, all runners will receive free real-time photos from professional photographers. Marathon runners who achieve a new personal best (New PB) will receive a free set of grilled pork coupons. The event will expand space and seating for runners. Additionally, 200 11th Year BRM Gold Cards will be awarded—50 per race category—and the top 10 best-performing non-national Thai runners, both male and female, will be supported to compete in Tokyo Marathon 2028, covering registration, travel, and accommodation, plus over 100 special prizes from sponsors.

The press conference also featured the official launch ceremony for “Buriram Marathon 2027” and a presentation of sports and medical funding to the Athletic Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage and Buriram Hospital.

A key highlight is the unveiling of the theme “Beat the Night, Run the Light,” which will transform Buriram Marathon’s atmosphere with neon colors—from race shirts, finisher shirts, medals to the event day ambiance—creating a new experience for runners throughout the route.

The press conference recreated the race atmosphere in central Bangkok with Buriram Marathon cheerleaders, a signature of the event. On-site registration opened before the online registration starts on 25 July 2026 for returning runners and 26 July 2026 for general runners via Buriram Marathon and Running Connect websites.
