The Cycling Association pays homage to His Majesty the King and expresses deep gratitude for his gracious support of the Thai cycling community.
General Decha Hemkrasri, President of the Cycling Association of Thailand, led executives, coaches, staff, and athletes in a ceremony to pay homage and sign a tribute to His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn on the auspicious occasion of his birthday on 28 July. The event reflected their heartfelt gratitude for the immeasurable benevolence His Majesty has bestowed upon the association and the Thai cycling sport, which plays a vital role in developing Thai athletes for the international stage.
General Decha Hemkrasri, President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, led executives, staff, coaches, and athletes in a ceremony to pay homage and sign a tribute to His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn on the auspicious occasion of his birthday on 28 July 2026 at the Cycling Association of Thailand headquarters, Velodrome Stadium, Huamark, within the Sports Authority of Thailand in Bang Kapi District, Bangkok, on 27 July 2026. The ceremony reflected their profound and boundless gratitude for His Majesty’s benevolence toward Thai cycling.
After the homage ceremony, General Decha revealed that His Majesty the King graciously granted the Cycling Association of Thailand royal patronage. This is a profound honor and the highest distinction for the association, its athletes, and the Thai cycling community. It boosts morale and motivates the development of Thai athletes to reach international levels.
General Decha added that His Majesty the King has continuously bestowed kindness upon the Cycling Association of Thailand, including personally awarding trophies to winners of cycling competitions. Members of the royal family also participate annually. After each competition, the association respectfully requests a royal audience for the victorious athletes. His Majesty kindly grants this audience and personally presents the trophies or authorizes representatives to do so every time.
Furthermore, General Decha said that His Majesty the King served as the honorary president of the Bike for Mom event, cycling in honor of Her Majesty the Queen Mother’s 83rd birthday on 12 August 2015, and the Bike for Dad event, honoring His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 88th birthday on 5 December 2015. His Majesty’s royal intention was to inspire loyalty among the people toward the monarchy and to promote cycling as a form of exercise, alongside other activities that encourage physical fitness among the Thai people.
