The 12th round of the MotoGP 2026, the British Grand Prix, is set for 7-9 August at Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom. This marks the first race after a full one-month break in the season.
One highlight for Thai fans this weekend is Honda Team Asia officially announcing a golden opportunity for the young Thai rider "MaiQ" Kiattisak Singhapong to compete in the Moto3 World Championship for the first time in his career. This will also be his debut at this classic circuit, where he will race replacing Japanese rising star Sen Mitani.
After outstanding performances in two junior world championship events—the Moto3 Junior World Championship 2026 and the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup 2026—securing two podium finishes and consistently earning points, along with ongoing improvements in riding and teamwork, MaiQ Kiattisak Singhapong earned this chance from the team to compete in the Moto3 World Championship this weekend.
This golden opportunity allows the young Thai rider to prove himself in Moto3, a crucial stage gathering over 30 talented young riders worldwide to showcase their ability to adapt to high-level global competition. Strong performance here could lead to a full-season Moto3 World Championship seat in the future.
Meanwhile, Honda HRC’s main team in the MotoGP class is fully preparing after a one-month mid-season break. Both Spanish rider Joan Mir, number 36, and his Italian teammate Luca Marini, number 10, are eager to chase strong results for the team.
Similarly, Brazilian rising star Diogo Moreira, number 10 from Pro Honda LCR, and veteran British rider Cal Crutchlow, number 35, will continue to race for Honda LCR in this event.
The British Grand Prix official practice sessions start on Friday, 7 August, followed by qualifying on Saturday, 8 August, to determine starting grid positions. The main races take place on Sunday, 9 August, beginning with Moto2 at 17:15, followed by MotoGP at 19:00, and concluding with Moto3 at 20:30 Thailand time.
