Kiattisak Singhapong made his breakthrough in the Moto3 World Championship by scoring points in his first race, finishing 15th at Silverstone.
The action in the MotoGP 2026 Round 12 British Grand Prix unfolded in the main race on Sunday night, 9 August, at Silverstone Circuit, United Kingdom, which features the longest lap distance on the calendar at 5.90 kilometers.
The highlight for Thai motorsport fans this weekend was following "Mai Q" Kiattisak Singhapong, a rising Thai rider from the "Honda Race to the Dream" project, who was given a golden opportunity by Honda Team Asia to compete in the Moto3 World Championship, substituting for the injured Japanese rider Sen Mitani.
The Thai rider, racing with bike number 85, quickly learned the track he had never raced on before and steadily improved his speed on the Moto3 machine. He started from grid 22 among 25 top young riders and competed over 15 laps.
Kiattisak got off to a good start, moving up to 18th place early in the race but had to carefully manage tire wear and stay with the mid-pack group. Throughout the race, his position fluctuated, and he overtook a young Italian rider on the final lap to cross the finish line in 15th place with a total time of 33 minutes 20.601 seconds, 35.339 seconds behind the winner.
This excellent performance earned "Mai Q" Kiattisak Singhapong points in his very first Moto3 World Championship race, demonstrating he is ready to compete with regular riders who have been racing all season—an important proof of his potential in this golden opportunity.
The next MotoGP 2026 race will take place from 28-30 August at MotorLand Aragon in Spain, known as the Aragon Grand Prix.
