Thai Weightlifting Champions Continue Medal Haul with 9 Medals at Asian Youth and Junior Championships

Thai weightlifting stars continue their medal streak as "Pae" Yaowaret Permkaew delivers a stellar performance to claim 2 gold medals and 1 silver in the junior women's 61 kg category at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Thai team’s medal tally has now reached 6 golds, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze.


At the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, prior to this, the Thai team had already secured 4 golds, 1 silver, and 1 bronze. On 10 August 2026, the Thai team awaited more medals from "Pae" Miss Yaowaret Permkaew competing in the junior women's 61 kg division in group A.

In the snatch event, Yaowaret started strong, successfully lifting 92 kg on her first attempt. She attempted 95 kg on her second try but failed, then succeeded in her third attempt at the same weight, setting her snatch record at 95 kg and earning the silver medal.

In the clean and jerk, Yaowaret performed well, successfully lifting 114 kg and 120 kg on her first two attempts, which secured her the gold medal. On her third attempt, she tried to lift 127 kg to break the Asian junior record but failed. Her final record stood at 120 kg, earning her the gold medal and bringing her total to 215 kg, also gold-winning. In summary, Yaowaret took home 2 golds and 1 silver.

Meanwhile, Sayyoda Kudyokulova from Uzbekistan earned 1 gold in the snatch (96 kg) and 2 silvers in the clean and jerk (112 kg) and total (208 kg). Mariam Keshtegar from Iran took 3 bronze medals in the snatch (94 kg), clean and jerk (111 kg), and total (205 kg).

In the junior men's 75 kg group B, Nantawut Puangbubpha recorded 123 kg in the snatch, 151 kg in the clean and jerk, with a total of 274 kg. In the junior men's 75 kg group B, Kongla Promduangsri recorded 125 kg in the snatch, 150 kg in the clean and jerk, totaling 275 kg. The Thai weightlifting team’s total medal count now stands at 6 golds, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze.

The Thai athletes’ upcoming schedule includes: 11 August 2026 at 14:00 (16:00 Thai time), junior men's 70 kg group A with Vichaya Pratumta; 12 August 2026 at 12:00 (14:00 Thai time), junior men's 95 kg group B with Prasit Chomdetphichaya; and 14:00 (16:00 Thai time), junior women's 69 kg group A with Natnicha Karaked.
