Ms. Ora-apa Lohveera, Governor of Phayao, honored the event by presiding over the press conference alongside senior executives and prominent sports figures, including Ms. Jiraporn Kanjanapitak, Secretary-General of the Jet Ski Sports Association of Thailand, Mr. Thawat Sutthawong, President of the Phayao Provincial Administrative Organization, Mr. Satjawit Leelawanich, Mayor of Phayao City, Police Major General Pongsawat Chaibarn, Commander of Phayao Provincial Police, and “Ple” Nakorn Silachai, a jet ski athlete representative. The governor confirmed full readiness, emphasizing the Sport Tourism strategy to energize the local economy. Hotels and accommodations in the area were fully booked, and tourism revenue was expected to exceed one million baht.
The first day kicked off with excitement in the university category. On 13 August, the competition began with thrilling youth and collegiate races in WGP#3, the 1 LAP SLALOM UNIVERSITY class, where university racers fiercely competed:
In the men's 1 LAP SLALOM UNIVERSITY category for ages 17-22, MEN SEADOO SPARK STOCK, Naphiraphat Chatsirisakul from Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Nakhon Ratchasima, representing the WHEELSPEC KORAT RACING TEAM, delivered an outstanding performance. He accelerated impressively to claim victory by posting the best times in both heats (1:40.21 and 1:38.76 minutes), earning 32 points and securing the first championship title of the “Phayao Grand Prix 2026” with distinction.
In the women's 1 LAP SLALOM UNIVERSITY category for ages 17-22, WOMEN SEADOO SPARK STOCK, Piyathida Homkajorn from Srinakharinwirot University, representing the G-FORCE POWERSPORTS PATTAYA team and defending champion from the Hua Hin round, maintained her strong form. She posted the best times in both heats as well (1:38.70 and 1:46.97 minutes), sweeping a perfect 40 points and proudly clinching the women's championship.
