Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital opens its grounds as a running venue, gathering seniors aged 50+ for the Age Friendly Run 2026 by Samitivej: the 3rd 'Run Young' event, promoting safe running with Doctor and Nurse Runners. #WeDon’tWantAnyoneSick
Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital invites seniors aged 50+ and their families to join the third continuous “Age Friendly Run 2026 by Samitivej: Run Young” on Sunday, 13 December 2026. Distances include 1, 3, 5, and 10 kilometers, secured by expert Doctor and Nurse Runners along the route. All registrants receive free health consultations from Smartwatch or Smart Ring data with doctors at the Wearable Clinic, covering sleep, heart health, nutrition, and exercise. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Samitivej New Life Fund and the Sports Medicine Association of Thailand.
Dr. Adinan Kittiratnapiboon, Director of Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital and Samitivej International Children's Hospital, stated, “Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, guided by the Age-Friendly Hospital concept, specializes in elder care and has earned two international standards from the United States: Emergency Geriatric Care and the highest level of Age-Friendly Health Systems.”
He added, "Caring for the elderly goes beyond treating illness; it promotes both physical and mental well-being. This event encourages exercise and family involvement under the 4Ms Framework, which provides comprehensive elder care beyond the current illness, focusing on prevention to extend Healthspan. Over 100 Doctor and Nurse Runners will run alongside participants to ensure safety throughout the course."
The event features four running distances.
• One kilometer: walking or running within the hospital grounds, including health activity stations. Suitable for all ages, including seniors and wheelchair users. Non-competitive.
• Three kilometers: light walking or running, starting from Rama 9 Road side of the hospital and returning via Srinakarin Road gate. This distance offers mild exertion with some stretching. Non-competitive.
• Five kilometers: starting at the hospital, heading along Srinakarin Road, turning onto Huamak Road, then Huamak 21 alley, crossing Rama 9 Road, turning left onto Srinakarin Road, and finishing inside the hospital. This distance challenges heart fitness and tests the agility of experienced but not old runners.
• Ten kilometers: starting towards Srinakarin Road, turning onto Huamak Road, proceeding to Rajamangala National Stadium, then circling Huamak Road once more before returning via Huamak 21 alley following the same route as the 5 km, finishing inside the hospital. This distance tests endurance and the strength of seasoned senior runners.
