The first race of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship 2026 (ARRC) Round 5 kicked off thrillingly at Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia, amidst brutal weather challenges—from heavy rain in the morning to scorching sunshine in the afternoon. Nevertheless, the Honda Racing Thailand team demonstrated relentless fighting spirit, pushing limits to achieve a masterpiece performance.
A key highlight was the fierce competition in the Supersport 600cc (SS600) class. "Mix" Thanach Laongpliu secured first place in both Friday practice sessions. However, slippery and unpredictable track conditions during the morning qualifying meant he started from 9th on the grid.
When the lights went out for Race 1, "Mix" Thanach Laongpliu unleashed his best form, riding his trusted bike number 31 to overtake rivals from the start. Overcoming all pressure, he surged ahead to cross the finish line decisively, claiming a precious victory. This win propelled him to the top of the overall points standings, marking a perfect turnaround.
In the Asia Production 250cc (AP250) class, an equally impressive moment occurred when "Fer" Panjaruj Jitwirunchat, riding bike number 12, started from 20th on the grid after morning qualifying. Entering the afternoon Race 1 with confidence, he skillfully and steadily pushed forward, overtaking 14 fierce competitors to finish 6th, earning valuable championship points.
