After a 7-year wait, Liverpool FC is set to energize The Kop in Thailand once again with “KOP RUN Bangkok 2026, presented by Krungthai-AXA Life.” In partnership with Krungthai-AXA Life Insurance and Runrio, the event invites Reds and running enthusiasts to unite on Sunday, 13 September 2026 at the Plaza Court, Rajamangala National Stadium (Huamark), Bangkok. The run offers two distances, 5K and 10K, accommodating 10,000 runners with official race packs including running shirts and finisher medals licensed by LFC for fans to cherish.
This return is a major event eagerly awaited by Reds, after KOP RUN Bangkok previously impressed fans in 2015 and 2019 before a 7-year hiatus. Liverpool FC aims for KOP RUN to connect football, fitness, and fan passion, providing The Kop from Thailand and the Asia-Pacific region a chance to share a new experience together.
Besides Krungthai-AXA Life as the Presenting Partner, KOP RUN Bangkok 2026 also receives support from Japan Airlines and club partners including Standard Chartered, EA SPORTS, UPS, EC Markets, and Haier, all contributing to enriching activities and experiences for Liverpool fans throughout the event.
On 11 September at the Plaza Court, Rajamangala National Stadium (Huamark), a press conference was held to announce event readiness. Attendees included Liverpool FC legend and former captain Sami Hyypiä, Liverpool FC Women Ambassador and former player Tash Dowie (Natasha Dowie), Sarassawadee Kuptapong, Chief Human Resources Officer of Krungthai-AXA Life Insurance Public Company Limited, Boonperm Inthanapasat, Race Director of KOP RUN Bangkok 2026 and CEO of RunRio Thailand, along with sports presenter and Liverpool fan Nittha Sutita Ruangronghirunya. They discussed the growth of the running industry in Thailand, final preparations for KOP RUN Bangkok 2026, and shared a joint commitment to linking football, fitness, health, and the Liverpool FC fan community.
Sarassawadee Kuptapong, Chief Human Resources Officer of Krungthai-AXA Life Insurance Public Company Limited, said, “Krungthai-AXA Life is proud to be a Global Partner of Liverpool FC and the Presenting Partner of KOP RUN Bangkok 2026, presented by Krungthai-AXA Life, a running festival Reds have awaited for 7 years. It gives the Reds a chance to run side by side, share happiness, and build good health together.”
“This event also reflects the ‘Know You Can’ philosophy and the spirit of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’ Whether on the running course or in life’s journey, Krungthai-AXA Life stands beside customers, supporting, caring, and moving forward together toward a strong and sustainable future.”
A highlight that thrilled Reds fans was the presence of Sami Hyypiä, former Finnish international defender and Liverpool FC captain, who played at Anfield for 10 years from 1999 to 2009, appearing in 464 matches, scoring 35 goals, and winning many major honors. He was a key figure in Liverpool’s unforgettable 2005 UEFA Champions League triumph in Istanbul.
Another important figure was Tash Dowie (Natasha Dowie), Liverpool FC Women Ambassador and former club striker, holding the record as the all-time top scorer for LFC Women with 47 goals across two spells. She was instrumental in winning the Women’s Super League twice.
Consecutively in 2013 and 2014 before retiring in 2023, she became Liverpool FC’s first official Women’s Ambassador and made history again in 2025 as the first woman to play in Liverpool FC Legends’ annual game at Anfield.
Beyond the excitement on the running route, organizers have prepared a Fan Festival Area inspired by Anfield’s atmosphere, featuring interactive activities and photo spots. This area at Rajamangala National Stadium (Huamark) will become a gathering place for Red hearts to run, cheer, have fun, and soak in the Liverpool FC vibe together, reflecting the thrill of race day, friendship, and the community that connects Reds worldwide.
The race accommodates 10,000 runners, with 7,000 for the 10-kilometer distance and 3,000 for 5 kilometers. Both distances start and finish at Rajamangala National Stadium (Huamark). Whether runners seek a personal challenge or a fun run with friends and family, all can share the experience on the same course.
Another highlight for Reds fans is the Race Pack, including the official LFC licensed running shirt and Finisher medal themed for KOP RUN Bangkok 2026. These souvenirs mark the significant return after 7 years and for collectors and fans, they capture memories of being part of this special event.
The 10K race starts at 04:40 with a 2-hour cut-off; runners must finish by 06:40. The 5K starts at 05:00 with a 1-hour cut-off; runners must finish by 06:00.
Runners can collect their Race Entry Packs and attend the Expo on 11–12 September 2026 from 10:30 to 19:30 at the Plaza Court, Rajamangala National Stadium (Huamark), before the early morning race on Sunday, 13 September 2026.
Choosing Bangkok as a KOP RUN destination aligns with the passion of Reds fans in the region. Liverpool FC data indicates the Asia-Pacific region has 256 million club supporters, representing the largest fan base worldwide.
During the 2024–25 season, the club’s accumulated TV viewership in the region reached 127.3 million, with 53 million social media followers, underscoring the size and power of The Kop community in Asia-Pacific.
The 7-year wait is ending at the start line. Whether choosing the fun 5K or challenging 10K, Reds and runners of all levels should prepare their shirts and lace up to unite and create new memories with KOP RUN Bangkok 2026, presented by Krungthai-AXA Life, on Sunday, 13 September 2026 at Plaza Court, Rajamangala National Stadium (Huamark), Bangkok.
