The Deputy Governor of Phichit expressed delight as cyclists from across the country flocked to compete in the final round of the Thailand Open cycling competition, with the Fisherman Friend Squadron 46 youth team claiming three championships.
Cyclists nationwide poured in to compete in the Thailand Open mountain bike and road race final at Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track (Bueng Si Fai), Phichit Province. Mr. Thanit Phumthaworn, Deputy Governor of Phichit, expressed pride that the event helped stimulate the economy and promote tourism, bringing vibrancy to the province. The Fisherman Friend Squadron 46 team from Phitsanulok showed strong form by winning three national titles, while live broadcasts on Facebook Live and YouTube reached over 10,000 views.
The Thailand Open mountain bike and road cycling national championship, competing for the Royal Trophy bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for 2026, held its 4th and final round on 12-13 September 2026 at Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track inside Bueng Si Fai, Phichit Province. The opening ceremony on 12 September was honored by Mr. Thanit Phumthaworn, Deputy Governor of Phichit, as chairman, along with Captain Thitporn Noirak, Secretary-General of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage; representatives of General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand; plus heads of various government departments.
After the opening ceremony, Mr. Thanit Phumthaworn, Deputy Governor of Phichit, said on behalf of the people of Phichit Province that they were pleased the Cycling Association of Thailand held the Thailand Open cycling competition over two days, bringing renewed energy to the province. The people warmly welcomed cyclists from across the country. He expressed pride that His Majesty the King bestowed the name “Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track” on the province’s residents. The province has used the venue for various activities, including three national cycling competitions in 2026, mini and half marathons, and on 1 November, a walk-run-bike event at this very cycling track.
“Phichit is an agricultural city, and the province wants to host many activities to attract visitors nationwide to come, spend, and travel—especially to Bueng Si Fai, which covers over 5,000 rai. We have the Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track, measuring 10.28 kilometers, BMX and skate tracks, a pump track, and a crocodile pond housing over 100 crocodiles. There are relaxing zones for watching sunsets, the Queen Sirikit Park, Princess Srinagarindra Park, a lotus park, and a bird-watching tower. We invite everyone to come relax and visit Phichit Province. The people warmly welcome you,” Mr. Thanit said.
Among the participating athletes, Ms. Surassaya Wongphan from the Fisherman Friend team, Wat Dong Noi, Sattha Samut School, Samut Songkhram, said she had competed in three events and won all three championships. Her goal was to become Thailand’s national champion. Competing in the Thailand Open cycling event offers a pathway to joining the Thai national team, which is her aspiration. She trains diligently to win championships and gain a chance to represent Thailand internationally. She congratulated senior athletes who represented Thailand at the Youth Olympic Games, calling them good role models. She hopes to compete internationally someday. Additionally, participating in the Thailand Open has improved her health, fitness, and discipline.
The Thailand Open mountain bike race’s 4th round (43 km distance) was live broadcast via Facebook Live on the Thailand Cycling Association and TCA Channel, as well as on YouTube’s TCA Channel, drawing over 10,000 viewers. The notable race results are as follows.
In the women’s amateur category, Ms. Phetlada Munkong of the Fisherman Friend Squadron 46 Phitsanulok team finished in 1:35:55 hours, winning the Thailand national championship with a total of 92 points and earning the Royal Trophy. Second place went to Ms. Jairung Thepracha from the Ratchaburi Bamboo Cycling Club/Bunny Family Club with a time of 1:35:58 hours, and third to Ms. Manatsanan Jankrjang of HBK Cycling at 1:36:07 hours.
In the men’s amateur category, first place was Mr. Narongdech Saengchai of Amino VITAL-Summit Nich with 1:07:33 hours, followed by Mr. Montri Theerathip (independent) also at 1:07:33 hours, and third place went to Asst. Sgt. Phuwadol Kotprom of Herobike Thermaltake Bicycle at 1:07:44 hours. The Thailand national championship was awarded to Mr. Montri Theerathip with a total of 94 points and the Royal Trophy.
In the girls under-18 category, first place went to Miss Janyaporn Phosuphan of the Kamphaeng Phet Cycling Association with a time of 1:35:55 hours. Second was Ms. Siripatsorn Srisai from Fisherman Friend Wat Dong Noi, Thawaranukul School, Samut Songkhram, at 1:35:56 hours, and third was Ms. Surassaya Wongphan from Fisherman Friend Wat Dong Noi, Sattha Samut School, Samut Songkhram, at 1:35:57 hours. Ms. Surassaya also won the Thailand national championship with 92 points and the Royal Trophy.
In the boys 17-18 category, first place was Mr. Surasak Wongwikan of the Ratchaburi Bamboo Cycling Club/Bunny Family Club with a time of 1:08:52 hours, winning the Thailand national championship with 90 points and the Royal Trophy. Second place was Mr. Dechukrit Kanha from Kanthararom School, Sisaket Province, TrinX Chaoyang team, at 1:09:31 hours, and third place was Mr. Watcharapong Suwantrasap Siri from Bangkok Sports School & Roojai at 1:18:47 hours.
In the boys 15-16 category, first place went to Mr. Athikun Saenta of Bangkok Sports School & Roojai with a time of 1:20:00 hours. Second was Mr. Watcharapong Sanghasorn of Fisherman Friend Squadron 46 Phitsanulok at the same time, and third was Mr. Chanachart Jansri of Nakhon Nayok Sports School at 1:20:01 hours. The Thailand national championship was awarded to Mr. Watcharapong Sanghasorn with a total of 98 points and the Royal Trophy.
In the boys 13-14 category, first place was Mr. Phatcharapong Sanghasorn of Fisherman Friend Squadron 46 Phitsanulok with a time of 1:15:19 hours, earning the Thailand national championship with 94 points and the Royal Trophy. Second place went to Mr. Tin Boonsong of Mae Kim Lai, Tha Yang at 1:15:25 hours, and third to Mr. Witthakorn Sukprasat of Lenso.cc at 1:20:02 hours. The road cycling Thailand Open national championship round 4 is scheduled for Sunday, 13 September, with the opening ceremony at 07:30. Mr. Krit Pensupa, President of the Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization, will preside. The race route starts at Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track in Bueng Si Fai, passes through Pho Prathap Chang and Taphan Hin districts in Phichit, and returns to the finish line at the same venue, covering 73 km. The event will be broadcast live on Facebook Live via the Thailand Cycling Association and TCA Channel, and on YouTube’s TCA Channel, starting at 07:30.
