“General Muek” highlights the "Thailand Open" as fulfilling the Cycling Association's strategy to develop new athletes advancing to the national team.
General Muek, General Decha Hemkrasri, revealed that the 2026 "Thailand Open" cycling competition successfully achieved all strategic objectives of the Cycling Association. It provided a platform for new athletes in junior and youth categories to showcase their potential before selecting outstanding cyclists to join the Thai national team for events such as the Asian Youth Games and Youth Olympic Games, as well as masters competing in the Asian Championships. Singharat Wongsangiem, Deputy Mayor of Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization, praised the event for creating excitement, attracting cyclists and followers nationwide, stimulating the economy and tourism. The two-day Facebook Live and YouTube broadcasts attracted over 30,000 viewers.
The Thailand Open, a mountain bike and road cycling competition for the 2026 Royal Cup Championship named after Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Round 4 (final round), was held on 12-13 September 2026 at Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track, Bueng Sifai, Phichit Province. On 13 September, the road cycling opening ceremony was chaired by Singharat Wongsangiem, Deputy Mayor of Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization, along with Thanit Phumthaworn, Deputy Governor of Phichit, Navy Commander Thitporn Noirak, Secretary-General of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, representatives of General Muek (General Decha Hemkrasri), Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation and President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation, and heads of various government agencies.
General Decha stated that from the first round through the final in Phichit, the "Thailand Open" cycling competition successfully met the Cycling Association’s strategic plan focused on developing new junior and youth athletes to strengthen the sport. Talented athletes who are not yet old enough to compete in the elite category are considered for national team selection to compete in events such as the Asian Youth Games, Youth Olympic Games, World Championships, and the masters category for Asian Championships. Without the "Thailand Open," the Association might not be able to prepare athletes adequately.
General Decha added that an important aspect is the Cycling Association’s rule that prohibits national team athletes from competing in the four annual "Thailand Open" events. This regulation ensures the competition serves as a platform for new and rising athletes in junior, youth, and adult categories to demonstrate their abilities and gain experience, helping to identify outstanding athletes who can advance to the national team in the future.
Singharat Wongsangiem, Deputy Mayor of Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization, revealed that over 500 cyclists participated at Saranchit Mongkolsuk Cycling Track, Bueng Sifai, along with many supporters, creating a lively atmosphere. He noted that all hotels in Phichit were fully booked, marking the event as a major success. On behalf of the organization, he expressed great pleasure at the prospect of the Cycling Association returning next year, emphasizing that beyond promoting sport, the event significantly stimulates Phichit's economy and tourism, increasing income for local merchants and businesses.
Singharat further stated that hosting various sports events has energized Phichit Province, which no longer feels isolated as in the past. For the next year (2027 CE), the Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization is ready to support the Cycling Association of Thailand’s competitions as before. Kris Pensupa, President of the Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization, has also declared full support for cycling sports.
Regarding the road cycling results of the Thailand Open Round 4 (73 km), the event was broadcast live on the Thailand Cycling Association Facebook page and TCA Channel on YouTube, attracting over 20,000 viewers. Across both days, total viewership exceeded 30,000. Notable results include:
In the men’s adult category, first place was Mr. Promnat Wattanapreeda of Team SPY with a time of 1:35:58, second place Mr. Montree Theerateep (Independent) also at 1:35:58, and third place Mr. Saksri Arthitthang of Pattaya City Cycling Association-SKD Team at 1:35:59. The Thai national champion was Mr. Porntep Phosuwan of Small Dig Club (SDC) with a total of 98 points, earning the Royal Cup.
In the women’s adult category, first place was Ms. Juthamat Ariyapapon of Team SPY with 1:59:07, second Ms. Pornpischan Khongnok of Team SPY at 2:01:18, and third Ms. Thanita Lowilai (Independent) at 2:01:19. The Thai national champion was Ms. Isariya Chuputthapong of Core Nutrition Cycling with 124 points, awarded the Royal Cup.
In the men’s youth category, first place was Mr. Burapha Hingsaisong of Bangkok Sports School & Roojai Team at 1:47:55, who also secured the Thai national championship with 136 points and the Royal Cup. Second place was Mr. Kritphas Markthanat of Prime19 Team at 1:47:56, and third was Mr. Patcharapong Sangkasorn of Fisherman Friend, Wing 46 Phitsanulok Team at 1:47:59.
In the women’s youth category, first place was Ms. Sirapatsorn Srisaiwai of Fisherman Friend, Wat Dong Noi, Thavornanukul School, Samut Songkhram at 2:01:19; second was Ms. Wanisara Iamcharoen of F2P Velopark at 2:01:20; and third Ms. Punyisa Wongwaen of Team SPY at 2:01:20. The Thai national champion was Ms. Thanchanok Jinaphirom of Bangkok Sports School & Roojai Team with 130 points, receiving the Royal Cup. Complete results are available at www.thaicycling.or.th.
The next event organized by the Cycling Association is the track cycling Thailand Championship for the 2026 Queen Sirikit Royal Cup, Round 5 (final round), from 9-11 October 2026 at the Velodrome inside the Sports Authority of Thailand, Huamark, Bangkok. Athletes can register via the Cycling Association’s website, www.thaicycling.or.th, until Wednesday, 7 October 2026 at 12:00 PM, or register in person on Thursday, 8 October 2026 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Seri Trairat Room, Huamark Velodrome.
