On 22 September 2026 GMT+7, Amm Kanjuta Phatboonsorn, a female Thai national mixed martial arts athlete, made history by winning the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
In the final, Kanjuta Phatboonsorn delivered a dominant performance, decisively defeating Diana Pogosian from Bahrain to claim the gold medal in the women's modern MMA category, under 54 kg.
This is Thailand's fourth gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games and marks the first-ever gold in mixed martial arts for the Thai national team, as MMA was included in the Asian Games medal events for the first time.
