Thai tactical shotgun team aims to win five world championship titles in Greece.
The Shooting Sports Association of Thailand has selected and sent 26 male and female national tactical shotgun shooters to compete in the "2026 Shotgun World Shoot, Greece," scheduled from 20 September to 4 October 2026 in Greece.
On 23 September 2026, the Thai national tactical shooting team departed from Suvarnabhumi Airport on flight EY407 at 21:00 to participate in the world championship competition in Greece.
Before departure, Mr. Tosaporn Hongsanat, the association's vice president and team manager, said the athletes underwent rigorous selection and a full six months of training. Beyond shooting techniques, the association emphasized sports science, especially mental preparation, by engaging a sports psychologist to educate athletes on mental readiness. The association aims for athletes to perform at their best and bring home awards, particularly aiming for first place. Four years ago, Thai athletes won five championships, and this time, he is confident they will secure titles across four divisions: Open, Modified, Standard, and Standard Auto.
Coach Mr. Kachen Jiakkachon expressed confidence that the association will win championships again, though whether they surpass previous results achieved when Thailand hosted in 2023 depends on many factors due to the overseas venue. The strongest contenders are the Modified division teams (individual and team), women’s team, and youth women in the Standard division. Over half the Thai team has world championship experience from 2023 in Thailand and have performed well, alongside emerging talents continuously supported by the Shooting Sports Association of Thailand.
