Thailand's men's singles sepak takraw team, holders of the most Asian Games golds with six titles (1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2022), fielded their first trio: Thanaphon Sapyen as striker, Kritsanapong Nontakot serving, and Wuttinan Kamsano setting, with Phutawan Sopha and Porntep Thinbangbon as reserves.
Thailand performed excellently, defeating Malaysia decisively 2-0 in sets, 15-9 and 15-8, avenging their recent loss in the men's team event where Malaysia ended Thailand's 28-year reign since 1998.
This victory gave Thailand a record seventh Asian Games gold in men's singles sepak takraw, while Malaysia finished runner-up for the second consecutive time, maintaining their second-best record with three titles (1990, 1994, 2018).
