Port Football Club issued a statement apologizing to fans and accepting disciplinary penalties after fielding foreign players beyond the allowed quota.
Port FC acknowledged the error of fielding more foreign players than permitted and accepted the disciplinary penalty from the Disciplinary Committee. This followed their good performance on the field, winning 2-0 against True Bangkok United in the Chang FA Cup Round of 32 at Pat Stadium on the night of 21 December 2025.
According to the football competition regulations for the Chang FA Cup, when clubs of the same level face each other, the foreign player quota follows the rules of the respective league. Therefore, in the match between Port FC and True Bangkok United, both clubs were allowed to field 5+2 foreign players: 5 foreign players of any nationality plus 2 ASEAN quota players.
However, from the 79th minute onward, Port FC fielded foreign quota players exceeding the permitted number.
The club’s executives, coaches, and on-field staff apologize to all fans for this incident, which is a significant and regrettable damage to the club and affects the club’s goals and success for the 2025/26 season.
The club will thoroughly review and carefully improve procedures to prevent such incidents from happening again.
