
Letters addressed to Newin, chairman of Buriram United Football Club, show children expressing gratitude for his open-armed welcome of refugees at the Thai-Cambodian border.
On 29 Dec 2025 GMT+7, after Newin Chidchob, chairman of Buriram United Football Club and chairman advisor of Buriram United International Company, opened the Chang International Circuit racetrack as a temporary shelter for people affected by the conflict near the Thai-Cambodian border.
Recently, refugees have gradually returned to their hometowns following the 2nd Army Region's announcement that the situation has eased. Meanwhile, the refugee group wrote farewell letters thanking Newin Chidchob, "Aunt Tai" Karuna Chidchob, and all officials for their attentive care.
Ms. Jongjan, one of the refugees from Sai Taku Subdistrict, wrote in her letter that the support from all officials was valuable and provided reassurance during the crisis. Similarly, a 7-year-old girl drew a picture of Aunt Tai and Uncle Newin with the message: "Every day I have been here, I have been very happy."
