A youth footballer from Chiang Rai traveled 800 kilometers to successfully try out for the Monthong Wittaya team.
On 6 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Monthong Wittaya began player tryouts following their runner-up finish in the 2025 Seven Colors Football Tournament.
One player gaining attention on social media is 16-year-old Thanaphat Yodmunkhee, known as "Nong Get," from Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai. He traveled alone about 800 kilometers by bus and then train to try out for Monthong Wittaya.
Previously, Get played with an academy team. Many online users agreed he has excellent basic skills and individual talent, sparking interest in seeing Monthong Wittaya compete with him on the squad.
Coach Sakol Kleangprasert asked Get if he was the one who inquired about coming to Monthong Wittaya. When Get confirmed and said he came by train, Sakol jokingly asked why he didn’t come by boat, since boats can come too, making Get smile.
