The Football Association of Thailand has extended the contract of Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul as head coach of the Thailand U-23 national team through the 20th Asian Games.
On 22 January 2026, the Football Association of Thailand reached an agreement to renew the contract with Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul, head coach of the Thailand men's U-23 football team, extending it until the conclusion of the men's football tournament at the 20th Asian Games in Japan.
Previously, Coach Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul took charge of the Thailand men's U-23 team in July 2025 and led the team through the 2025 ASEAN U-23 Championship in Indonesia, followed by the Asian U-23 Championship qualifiers, the men's football competition at the SEA Games, and most recently the final round of the Asian U-23 Championship in Saudi Arabia.
For 2026, the Thailand men's U-23 football team will have friendly matches scheduled according to the FIFA calendar, as well as competing in the 20th Asian Games hosted by Japan from 19 September to 4 October.
