Thai Football Association Bans Player for Breaking Opponents Leg (Video)

The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee has suspended Nontawat Klinjampasri, a Pathumthani University player, for 8 matches after a tackle that resulted in an opponent's broken leg.

On 23 Jan 2026 GMT+7, updates came regarding the Thai League 3 match held on 17 Jan between Pram Bangkok at home and Pathumthani University.

In this match, Pram Bangkok won decisively 6-0 at home. However, a notable moment was Nontawat Klinjampasri’s heavy tackle on Chaiphruek Jirachin of Pram Bangkok, which seriously injured Chaiphruek with a broken leg. The referee issued only a yellow card for the foul.

Summary of the Disciplinary Committee meeting results:

- Referee Kokkiet Boonchu was penalized for errors in officiating, in accordance with competition officials' regulations, Article 57 (8), and suspended from duties for 2 weeks. This was due to player number 3, Nontawat Klinjampasri of Pathumthani University FC, extending his foot with the sole straight out, clearly striking player number 22, Chaiphruek Jirachin of Pram Bangkok FC, causing a severe injury (broken leg). This was deemed excessive force and serious foul play, which by rules requires a red card. The referee’s issuance of a yellow card was thus incorrect.

2) Player number 3, Nontawat Klinjampasri of Pathumthani University, intentionally injured an opponent, causing serious harm. Under disciplinary regulations, Chapter 3, Section 2, Article 1.12 (3), he is suspended for 8 matches and fined 80,000 baht. However, since this occurred in Thai League 3, the fine is reduced to one quarter, totaling 20,000 baht.
