Bangkok United Shocks Buriram 2-0, Handing First Home Defeat to Leaders

True Bangkok United showed strong form by ending Buriram United's unbeaten home record with a 2-0 victory, featuring goals from Rivaldinho and Artur Mora, securing three vital points.

On 1 Feb 2026 GMT+7, in the BYD CYLION Six League 2025-26 season, the week’s big match took place at Chang Arena, where league leaders Buriram United hosted fourth-placed True Bangkok United, who were regaining form. It became a memorable night for fans as the Angel Warriors ended the Thunder Castle's unbeaten streak with a 2-0 away win.

Before the match, Buriram was highly confident, having won five consecutive matches in all competitions and remained unbeaten since November. Their latest league game was a dominant 8-1 victory over Singha Chiang Rai United, leading the table by 12 points ahead of second place. However, key players Supachai Jaided and Ilhan Fandi were absent due to injury.

True Bangkok United had regained confidence after two consecutive 1-0 wins over BG Pathum United and Chonburi FC. Although still missing Teerasil Dangda, Artur Mora, and Mohsen Ghasani, the squad retained strong quality among the remaining players.

Just 2 minutes into the game, Buriram threatened first with Guilherme Bissoli shooting inside the penalty area, but the ball narrowly missed the target.

However, in the 8th minute, the visitors took the lead as Jakpan Praisuwan advanced on the right flank and crossed into the box, where Rivaldinho headed the ball sharply into the net, putting Bangkok ahead 1-0.

Buriram tried to respond quickly; at the 13th minute, Thanakrit Chotmuangpak’s quick free kick found Goran Kausic, whose header narrowly went wide. Then at the 40th minute, Robert Zulj took a long-range shot that deflected off Everton Goncalves and went just outside the goal.

The first half ended with the home team trailing 0-1.

In the second half, Buriram continued pressing forward. At the 48th minute, Robert Zulj made a run into the box and shot over the crossbar, while Bangkok focused on solid defense and looked for counterattack chances.

At the 65th minute, Pakorn Anan delivered a free kick to Rivaldinho, who headed toward the near post but missed the target.

In the final 10 minutes, the visitors maintained control. Then at the 88th minute, a decisive moment came when Picha Autra passed to Artur Mora, who expertly shot with his right foot to the far post, sealing the win for True Bangkok United at 2-0.

The final whistle confirmed Buriram United’s first home defeat of the season, while True Bangkok United earned valuable 3 points, moving up to 36 points and third place. Although Buriram remained league leaders, their lead narrowed to just 9 points, keeping the title race competitive.
