Buriram and the Thai national team are shaken! An update on Theerathon Bunmathan’s condition after a heavy collision with a Chinese player in the ACL ELITE.
On 20 Feb 2026 GMT+7, during the ACL ELITE match where Buriram United defeated Shanghai Shenhua 2-0, Theerathon collided with a Shanghai Shenhua player, resulting in bleeding and forcing him to be substituted. Thai fans expressed concern and offered their support.
Earlier, Chatkamon Muaymun, Theerathon Bunmathan’s wife, updated his injury status on her social media, stating, “The doctor has completed the treatment. Thank you all for your concern.”
Recently, BubbleYingrak posted that Theerathon’s injury is more serious than initially thought, revealing he has a broken nose. Initially, he must rest for two weeks before light running is allowed, and a full month’s rest is required before he can head the ball again.
This means “Ko Oum” will not recover in time to help Buriram United in the ACL ELITE round of 16 matches against Melbourne City from Australia, scheduled for 3 and 10 March.
There is also uncertainty whether he will recover and be fit in time for the crucial final qualifier match for Thailand’s national team in the 2027 Asian Cup against Turkmenistan on 31 March.
The 36-year-old Serow player has appeared in 32 matches this season for Buriram United across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing 10 assists. He remains a key figure in Buriram United’s pursuit of five possible titles this season: BYD Sealion League 1, Chang FA Cup, Muangthai Cup, Shopee Cup, and ACL ELITE.
