Nicholas Mickelson has made his choice! The Thai player he wants to bring to the Bundesliga boasts that the Thailand national team is ASEAN’s number one.
On 25 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Nicholas Mickelson, a right-back of the Thailand national team playing for Esbjerg Elversberg in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga, gave an exclusive interview to Thai sports media in the “Bundesliga-Media Roundtable with Nicholas Mickelson,” sharing his perspectives on playing in Europe and the Thai players he wishes to invite to Germany.
The Thai-Norwegian right-back revealed that if given the chance, he would like to invite Suphanat Mueanta, a Thailand national team forward, to play in Germany together, as he sees him as a talented player with high potential to develop further in European football.
Mickelson also discussed the differences between the Danish league and the German league, noting that the most obvious distinction is the "intensity of the game." In Germany, both attack and defense are much faster-paced, requiring players to make quick decisions and adapt to the more demanding rhythm of competition.
The Thailand national team defender expressed confidence that Thailand is the most capable ASEAN nation to send players to compete in the Bundesliga in the future, viewing the team as the highest quality in the region.
Regarding his current club’s goals, Mickelson stated that the team focuses on competing match by match. Although the club is small, the fans are very passionate, and achieving promotion would be a great success for the club.
He also identified key rivals in the promotion race as Schalke 04, SV Darmstadt 98, and SC Paderborn 07, all of which are strong teams with high potential.
Additionally, the Thailand national team defender set a personal goal: if given the opportunity to play in the top-tier Bundesliga, he looks forward to facing top attackers like Luis Diaz, the star winger of Bayern Munich.
