The "Dream Transport" legend ends as Coach Joon announces a new system for Mon Thong, closing the chapter on constant traveling that sacrificed students' education.
On 27 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Coach Joon Anurak Srikead confirmed rumors that he will become the new head coach of Mon Thong Wittaya School, replacing Asst. Coach Sakol Kleangsarot. He is currently awaiting contract signing and official appointment.
Coach Joon discussed plans for the team, aiming to lead Mon Thong Wittaya School into competing in the Department of Physical Education's 'Cup B' at minimum, and to manage the team more systematically.
"Our goal is to get the team into the Department of Physical Education's Cup B, or possibly higher within a few years. Currently, we can't yet register Mon Thong's team under the Department's name. We need to build and reset the team, set up annual management plans, determine the number of competitions, and ensure players are well-prepared. We will establish a solid management structure that cares for the players. There won't be too many competitions so that students still have time to study and train."
He also mentioned restructuring efforts to minimize negative effects after the U-18 players graduate.
"We need to analyze the structure of each age group from U13 to U18 to identify gaps. After the U-18 group graduates, we'll see how many players remain and in which positions. We also must review the previous playing system to identify missing positions and recruit new players as replacements."
Many still associate Mon Thong Wittaya players with the old blue songthaew truck known as the “Dream Transport.” However, under Coach Joon's era, that image will disappear as the focus shifts to better care for the players.
"Everything has evolved now. We can't keep transporting players by vehicle as before. Instead, there will be improved management and enhanced player care. We'll likely meet the players directly at the field rather than driving them around."
