What Happened to the Iranian Footballer Who Cried During an Interview Over the US-Iran War Issue

An Iranian female footballer cried during an interview due to the war issues with the United States.

On 4 March 2026, Sara Didar, a player for the Iranian women's national team, could not hold back tears of worry for her family and loved ones back home amid the war situation, while her team competed in the 2026 Asian Championship in Australia.

“Of course, we are all concerned and saddened by what is happening to Iran and our families there,” Didar said on Wednesday before the Group A qualifying match against Australia.

“I sincerely hope that our country will receive good news soon, and that my country will remain strong and resilient.”

The 21-year-old forward was part of the team that stood in silence during the Iranian national anthem at Gold Coast Stadium before their opening match, which ended in a loss to South Korea on Monday.

However, both the players and staff had arrived in Australia before the Israeli and US attacks on Saturday, which triggered the widespread conflict.
