Bicycle Sports Organize International BMX Competition to Earn Points for the Olympics


The Cycling Association of Thailand is organizing an international BMX competition to accumulate qualification points for the Olympic Games.


The Cycling Association of Thailand has received a royal gracious gift from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, who has bestowed an additional 25 trophies to the winners of the 2026 Thailand BMX Championship, increasing the original 13 trophies to a total of 38. This is an unparalleled royal kindness. The opening ceremony of the second round of the Thailand BMX Championship was honored by Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, who presided over the event on 14 Mar 2026 at 08:10. The ASEAN BMX Racing Cup, an international BMX competition registered with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) as a C1-level event, took place on 15 Mar 2026, with points contributing to qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.


General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, revealed that the association is organizing the 2026 Thailand BMX Championship, competing for the royal trophies granted by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The second round will be held from 14-15 March 2026 at Kamol Sports Park, Suwinthawong Road, Nong Chok District, Bangkok. The association has registered the event with the UCI as a national championship (CN) level. Winners in the men’s and women’s open categories, under-23, and youth categories will earn the right to wear jerseys with the Thai flag on the right sleeve in UCI-recognized competitions worldwide during the 2026 season.


General Decha stated that the Cycling Association of Thailand deeply appreciates the royal kindness of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, who graciously bestowed an additional 25 trophies to the winners, raising the total royal trophies from 13 to 38—an immeasurable honor.


The original 13 royal trophies included: 1. BMX open men, 2. BMX open women, 3. BMX youth boys, 4. BMX youth girls, 5. BMX under-12 boys, 6. BMX under-12 girls, 7. BMX under-16 boys, 8. BMX under-16 girls, 9. BMX men over 30, 10. Mountain bike super cross boys 14-16, 11. Mountain bike super cross youth boys, 12. Mountain bike super cross open men, 13. Mountain bike super cross men over 30.


The additional 25 royal trophies include: 1. BMX boys aged 4-5, 2. BMX boys aged 6, 3. BMX boys aged 7, 4. BMX boys aged 8, 5. BMX boys aged 9, 6. BMX boys aged 10, 7. BMX boys aged 11, 8. BMX boys aged 13, 9. BMX boys aged 14, 10. BMX men under 23, 11. BMX men aged 30-34, 12. BMX men aged 35-39, 13. BMX men aged 40-44, 14. BMX men aged 45-49, 15. BMX men aged 50 and above.


16. BMX girls aged 4-6, 17. BMX girls aged 7-8, 18. BMX girls aged 9-10, 19. BMX girls aged 13-14, 20. BMX women under 23, 21. Mountain bike super cross men aged 40-49, 22. Mountain bike super cross men aged 50 and above, 23. Mountain bike super cross girls aged 14-16, 24. Mountain bike super cross youth girls aged 17-18, 25. Mountain bike super cross women aged 19 and above.


General Decha added that simultaneously, the association is organizing the ASEAN BMX Racing Cup, an international BMX competition registered with the UCI as a C1-level event. This event offers world ranking points that affect qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA. Six Asian countries are participating: South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand. It is expected that several hundred athletes, both Thai and foreign, will compete. The opening ceremony on 14 March at 08:10 was presided over by Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt. The event is broadcast live on Facebook Live via the Thailand Cycling Association and TCA Channel, as well as on YouTube’s TCA Channel throughout the two-day competition.


Athletes can register to compete in the 2026 Thailand BMX Championship, Round 2, and the ASEAN BMX Racing Cup C1-level international competition on 14-15 March at Kamol Sports Park, Suwinthawong Road, Nong Chok District, Bangkok. Registration is open via the association’s website www.thaicycling.or.th until 12:00 noon on 12 March, or in person at the competition venue on 13 March from 09:00 to 16:00. Team managers’ meetings for the Thailand Championship are scheduled for 15:00 on 13 March, and for the ASEAN BMX Racing Cup at 15:00 on 14 March, both on the third floor of the FBT office building at Kamol Sports Park.
